Is nothing ever easy?

The answer is no, nothing is ever easy.  Old Scilian Saying my father had, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

Well, I hate to tell him this, everyone IS doing it and it STILL ain't easy!

I have 40 blocks now.  And it took me nearly two hours to perfect the sashing attachment.  I looked at several websites about GAYG and they all gave a quick and easy way to attach the blocks.  But it left a lump in the seam.  I remember doing a Betty Cotton's Cotton Theory quilt and she cut the batting smaller than the block so the back was used as one of her "streets".  I didn't want a lump in my seam.  So I ripped and searched further.

Then I came across what I wanted but the blog had no pictures.  Can you imagine not seeing what you are supposed to be doing?  Aughhhh!

So I ripped a few more.  But I found a good way to attach the blocks with no lump.  I sewed my seam too large and had to rip.  Then I decided to cut the black larger and of course it worked that time so I had to rip and trim it down to the correct size.

Can you see what I did wrong in that picture above you?  I am NOT ripping this out so it will either be incorporated or trashed.

I wanted this:

But got this:
Let's see what I can do.  But I am NOT ripping it out.  I will make more blocks if I have to, but I am NOT ripping it out.

  1. Tomorrow's a fresh day! You may feel differently about that reverse sewing! Even so, it's looking fabulous!
