A Giveaway!

I have another Giveaway!  It makes me feel like I am actually de-cluttering when I give stuff away.  But I think deep in my brain I realize this is not really solving my problem.  I would need to fill about 5 large shipping boxes to make any difference.  But that is not the point.  And you have to trust me for pictures.  My camera is dead because I left it plugged in to the computer last night.

To win something leave me a comment and please tell me what you do to keep your sewing room clean.  I really need that advice.  Then of course, the random number generator will pick for distribution.  There is always lagniappe in the boxes.  So you definitely come out ahead just by commenting on my blog.

So.....WAKE UP OUT THERE!  LOL

I have a pattern from Calico Carriage called Post and Beam.  It is interesting and takes fat quarters for the center.   The whole quilt is 60 x 60.  I won this in the auction probably last year rather than this year.  Maybe even two years ago.

I have a pattern called "A Charming Farmhouse Kitchen Scene for Machine or Hand Applique in an 18" Hoop".  Oh wait, tht is the description.  It is called Morning Coffee.  It is cute and I really like it, but I will never do applique.

Then there is the Mystikal Mardi Gras King Cake table runner pattern from The Quilt Cottage in New Orleans.  This is a valuable commodity because The Quilt Cottage is no longer around.  It is 21 x 52 inches.

Then I have a grouping of 11 patterns I have collected from books, stores and shows.  They were all free and two were from books checked out from the library.  Bad Me!  I really can't toss them!  They are so cute, all of them.  Daisy Crazy quilt, Butterfly Garden Party, Indonesian Floral Star, Debbie Mumm's Seasons, Robin Pandolpf's Tickled Pink, Joanne Porter's Spring Flowers, Quilt For The Cure and Bonnie Benn Stratton's Thanks Be to Auntie Lue, A Star Gazing Santa, some paper pieced hearts, Falling Leaves Quilt and Flying Flags Quilt.  Is that more than 11.  I might split these up and  make them go with some of the others so more than one would go to a couple of people.

I also have a Quilter's 100 Block Coffee Mug.

I am sure I can dig up some more stuff as well.

  1. Sewing room... keep clean...??????? This does not compute. When it gets too bad, I make a ruling that every time I change the bobbin I have to clean something, and that usually beats it back for a few moments. Glad someone else is having luck cleaning out.

  2. Hello again. I try and keep my sewing space organized by using cheap plastic baskets to keep each project together. I always have many projects going at once and this is the only way I can keep things seperated. I have all my fabric in IKEA shelves in my bedroom along with my ironing board. My quilt frame and Juki are in the living room. I keep finished tops on a stand by the Juki. I keep thread in clear stacking boxes. Scraps smaller than fat quarters are sorted by color families in plastic bins with lids. Bella thinks these are hers and uses them to design quilts on her little design board whenever she is here. This is not a perfect system but it is working for me at the moment.

  3. I shouldn't be posting because my room right now is a total mess, but I do have most of my fabric in plastic shelf/tubs that sit on large heavy duty metal shelving. (learned my lesson when the plastic ones collapsed from the weight of the fabric)

  4. I have had my fabric sorted on open shelves for years, covered by an old curtain that I can easily lift up (sometimes it stays up for days and days). But my puppy liked fabric, so now the bottom two shelves have been put into boxes by colors, and labeled. This works great. Scraps and projects go into boxes or baskets. And every blue moon, I get real and give away old projects that I will never finish. Makes space for more!

  5. Let's just say it is not! I am putting fabric on boards by color or at least trying. I do this as I use fabric and all other fabric is in tubs in the closet...out of sight is as organized as I get. Like you I am 'cleaning' and trying to figure out a system.

  6. I have sorted my fabrics into dresser drawers (or plastic stacking drawers). My flat surfaces get cluttered with "meaningful piles," but I clean them off whenever I finish a project. Dusting, vacuuming and de-linting my immediate area is my frequent task.

  7. My sewing room is not too clean but I try to pick up all stray pins off the floor and throw the thread ends and little fabric corners in the garbage periodically :)

  9. After reading everyone's posts I realize I'm spending too much time cleaning and not enough time sewing. My husband is quite picky about the house, so I have a constant reminder if my sewing room gets too bad. Because our sewing room is also our guest room -- it also gets cleaned periodically when someone is coming. (At least everything gets put into the closet.

  10. About once a month I 'tidy' things up in my sewing area... ok, ok every third month or so. But I think that the real trick is to try and tidy up while creating, y'know, put extra fabric and scraps away and stuff like that... but since I've never put it into practice, I don't know what I'm talking about here. Thanks for the chance!!
