A Recipe for Success and a Successful Recipe

One sure way to get nothing done is to try to get something done.  Took the bassets to the vet for baths so i figured I had 6 hours of uninterrupted sewing.  NOT

I have done 5 loads of dog things in the washer, folded 3 loads of human clothes and put them away, hung one batch.  Got a call from Chris saying our Direct Mailing letter for the Big Money Match was ready for my signature so went to the printers.

got a call from Carrie, today is her hubby BD so we were having dinner tonight.  But she is unable to get to the store to get a cake and I am now required to get the cake

AND a card from her for him.

AND pick the dogs up for 3 pm.

Geez, and I havent touched the first sewing machine!

Anyway, here is the successful recipe

Chili Casserole - Easy Peasy

1 lb gr meat
1 onion chopped
2 garlic toes chopped finely
can chili beans
can black beans
1 1/2 tbl chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp oregano
1 box jiffy cornbread mix
1 c mexican cheese (or cheddar)
Sour cream (for garnish)

Brown meat, onions and garlic.  add beans without draining.  (if you use any other type beans do drain them, I used great northern beans rather than chili beans).  Add spices.

put into a greased 2 quart dish.

Mix up cornbread and out it on top.  Bake at 400 for 30 minutes. Serve with avocado and sour cream on top

  1. So much for having time to sew! What a bummer! The chili looks tasty. I need to make some chili, but I first have to clean my crock pot. I forgot that I left it downstairs with some sweet potato casserole still in from xmas! Let's just say I am trying to get brave enough to take it outside and clean out the science experiment that is going on in there.
