Happy New Year's day - Cooking but no sewing

Last night we went to a gathering at Paula's new house. The previous owner built a nice garage in the yard and she is using it as her new quilting room.  When she gets it all set up, we will get some serious quilting time in!  She made some fabulous pulled pork sandwiches and I had apple pie whiskey that tasted just like an apple pie fresh out of the oven!

I'm so ready for a new year. Not that the last one was so bad but this one is going to be better an healthier with my new knee.

corn muffins
Black Eyed Peas
So in order to make it better I am cooking cabbage, ham and black-eyed peas for love health and money in 2015. The black-eyed pea's are laced with excises of ham lot pic, lots of onion and bell pepper and garlic. The ham steaks will be covered in a sauce of yellow mustard and brown sugar along with some plump juicy raisins. The rice is cooking with lots of fresh butter in the water.

I sent Frank out for some bagel chips so I'll make some hummus and some dip for potato chips.

cheesecake baking
For dessert I'm making a New York Cheesecake with amaretto cherry topping. Yesterday I made some chocolate chip pan cookies.

I have a group of people coming over today and we will all celebrate with some champagne and cheesecake. I can't think of a better meal to start the new year with.

Except maybe lots of chocolate…

  1. Oh my, that's a meal that sounds perfect! We had cabbage with ham, but no black-eyed peas because there were no peas at the grocery store. Really, we searched several places. I've decided that if it means luck, well, we've run out. But since I also believe that superstition is around only for the sake of tradition, I'm not concerned. Rather than peas, I had chocolate...how lucky is that?
