So You Like History? And A Stash Report

I am glad you enjoyed the history of early Louisiana.  If I remember, I will check out some fun things later on and share them with you.  I thought it was an innovative presentation for a quilt guild.   great program may be to share a block and its history each month and end up with a quilt!

All I used this week was the borders on the Fireworks quilt to the tune of about 1/3 yard.  Oh, and I put a 4 inch sleeve on another quilt, Jack and Gourdy Throw A Party, that got into the quilt show.  But that put me over the 100 yard used mark and that was my goal!  Yeay!

Used this week -0.83 Used this month -17 Used this year -100.33
Bought this week 0 Bought this month 0 Bought this year 67.25
Plus or minus -0.83 Plus or minus -17 Plus or minus -33.08

I had several meetings this week, two guilds and  a CAAWS board meeting so i was plenty busy with preparations.  I just don't want you to think I was slacking off or anything.

Carrie came over yesterday.  And we put her leaf quilt on the frame thinking we could get it at least quilted before she went to the shower today.  I showed her how to work with rulers and we planned on a background filler for the negative space.

At about an hour, she  popped under the quilt to see what it looked like.

OMG

That is all I can say.  It didn't even occur to me that I might need to tweak the tension after it got serviced.

So we spent the next three hours ripping out what the machine put in.  And I spent most of today and I am not even half done

OMG

 But it looked great!

  1. That's a shame about the tension. Have you heard of people laying wall mirrors on their table where the pantos go so they can just look down and see the backs?

  2. That's a bummer. I've learned the hard way to always do a practice sandwich before any quilting . Although you can't do that on the Avante. At least you spent quality time with Carrie what with the swearing and all :-)

  4. Ouch. Been there, done that. What I can see from the picture, it looks like a beautiful quilt. So sorry for the tension problems. Your stash usage numbers are great!

  5. Too bad about the tension issues. That is a lot of work for nothing and a hard lesson to learn. The quilt looks great though! I had to add the new baby quilt to my stash usage and here I found that for several entries into my spreadsheet I forgot to put a minus sign before the yardage. I fixed my errors so now I have used 72.5 yards so far this year. You are doing a great job!

  6. Oh Boy, Can I relate!! It is such a pain to have to rip out a big section of machine quilting. The quilt will be beautiful when done.
Great numbers. You are ahead of the game.
