Nothing Fun Happened Today

And that is exactly how I like it!

On Friday I told Frank that by sundown Sunday, he needed to own a BBQ grill.  After picking up a big donation check for CAAWS I picked Frank up and headed to Sears.  Oddly, he loves to buy his BBQ grills from Sears.

By sundown, we had assembled all but one shelf on the grill.  Needless to say it was not in time to cook the chicken breast I purchased on the way home!  So we had chicken in an earlier form......eggs.

My Neighbor "A" told me that the crazy lady received some money from FEMA even though she had never had flood insurance.  They had paid her for being in a hotel since the flood because she couldn't live in the house.  FEMA is bringing her a trailer and hooking it up to the sewer system.  They are giving her money to pay for the demolition, cleaning and rebuilding of her house.

Now how does that seem fair.  A and I both have paid for flood insurance for years and years.  He has received $1500 and I have received $1700 from FEMA.  That is it.

We considered that she could be lying, but maybe not.  Regardless, I would rather be me than her.

And I would always choose having insurance over government giveaways.  But it just doesn't seem fair.  People should just do the right thing.

  2. Ahhh a dogs life. Not a care in the world.

Being on site I bet you get to witness a whole lot of waiting and not much doing. I know paint was purchased. Are your ceilings and walls back together? I know how anxious you are to get back in and back to some sort of normal.

  3. FEMA has no rhyme or reason. We too watched the neighbor get her house redone, then redone and moved to higher ground and it was painful. We worked hard, got a lot of runaround and I finally just said enough. Stupid should not qualify you for my money.

  4. WE are way past the days of people doing the right thing. Responsibility is foreign to most people these days. Most people think the government will take care of them and from what I have seen if you refuse to do the right thing the government will take care of you. So glad you have a grill and have expanded your cooking options!

  5. Yes, well, it seems FEMA is around to take care of those who cannot or will not take of themselves. I am beginning to think that they make up the rules as they go along, as do many people when it comes to doing the right thing. It's probably best not to mention that you have always done the right thing when you're dealing with FEMA.
Let us know how the new grill goes.
