Night Out in New Orleans

We are in our hometown  city of New Orleans tonight.  Our dear friend’s child Mary Kate is getting married.  We are on the 20th floor of the Loew’s Hotel at the end of Canal Street, the Main Street of the City.  You can see st Patrick’s Cathedral from here.  It is one of the oldest in the city, dating back to the early 1700’s.

The Mississippi Rover Bridge, or Greater New Orleans Bridge is infamous for the alleged shootings by police during Katrina.  I am sure everyone remembers that.

(I can’t get blogger to work for some reason, so you will have to wait for the fabulous New Orleans photos)

We had a light dinner at Archie Manning’s place.  He was there doing a local football radio show.  Then we walked over to the Harrah’s Casino where I promptly lost my allotted $20.

As a wedding gift I sent the bride an ironing board!  She will laugh when she seees who it came from!

As part of my Birthday Week this afternoon frank took me to the Mes Amie Quilt Shop after we got to New Orleans, where I scored a ton of on sale fabrics!  We rode through the area where the levee broke after Katrina and flooded the city.  My friend’s parents live about two blocks from the breech and had 15 feet of water cover their house.  They have rebuild since then.

I have to get ready for the wedding, so I will have fabric pics for you tomorrow.
