OMG - One Monthly Goal October

Everyone else is doing it, I am pulled along by the hated and feared peer pressure.

I am joining OMG - One Monthly Goal over at Elm Street Quilts.

Not that I have anything against Patty from North Carolina (not to be confused with Patty the Quilt Lady from Ohio) or Patty J from Baton Rouge), but it will be a good thing for me to populate my growing list of completions and figure out my fabric usage.  So OMG will be a fun endeavor.

I think all you have to do is declare what you want to get done in the beginning of the month.  Then at the end of the month tell people if you did it.

1. Of course, I plan on whining in Beginning Post about how little time I have to accomplish the goal.  So when I do get it done, everyone will be so happily surprised that I did it!

2.  Another tactic can be to have something I already finished, report it as a goal and then it will be miraculously finished at the end of the month!

3.  Then put something in there that I HAVE to get done or  my life will implode.

Yep, I am confident I can do this!  LOL......

So.....in that vein.........I have set October OMG as the following:

1. First off I will be gone for 2 weeks out of the month and will visit my SSOBB (Barn Quilt Buddy) Val in Canada so I will have half the time everyone else has to finish up their projects.  But I will have more fun than you because she is a Jack drinking, jeep mountain running, quilting kind of woman.

2.  I need to finish the binding on Batik Reflections. (it is half way done)

3.  I need to quilt at least two quilts, one of which needs to be the Patriotic Quilt for the Naval Academy.

This is what the quilts on the longarm look like from the kitchen.  What a lovely view!

That should be lofty enough goals for October.

Meanwhile, I used the new Steam Clean feature on the oven.  This is a new invention in the 5 years since I had to change the flooded oven out.  It works by putting a cup of regular tap  water in the bottom of the oven.  It has a depression that will hold it.  You turn on the Steam Clean feature an the oven  locks ominously.

It will heat to 250 degrees for 20 minutes and steam off all the baked on stuff.  You then wipe it out with a rag.

An improvement over the 550 degrees for a hour which turned everything in there to ash.

  1. Good luck with your OMG. Mine is getting BBSWQ to the flimsy stage. Only 6 more blocks and 3" border left.

  7. Whining, cheating, and panic - I am not sure that was the intent of the OMG project - LOL!!!! You crack me up!! I would think that just getting the binding finished on that quilt would be enough to say that is your goal for the month. Anything else you would get done is just a bonus to you. I was linking up to that for a couple of months, but when I started to work on the R.E.M. quilt, well, that took five months so I didn't bother participating any more.

Have a great time in Canada! I hope you have wonderful weather.

  9. Hmmm. Next time I get an oven, I'm looking for that one ... and a little robot to do the wiping out. Enjoy your trip to Canada. You really only have to have ONE goal. LOL I like the plan to say how impossible your goal is, though. Welcome and best of luck. By the way, we are on the One Monthly Goal Honor System. LOL
