Ever since they put my cabinets in the kitchen, the drawer under the range top has been funky. I had the twins work on it. And then Jay, the big boss guy. It got to the place where it worked, but I had to give it that final nudge to close it.
All my other doors and drawers have the soft close feature, except this one.
For the last few months that drawer no longer closes. It sits about an inch ajar.
I complain to Frank and he ignores me, mostly. But does that stop me from complaining? Nope.
Today, I complained LOUDLY. There may have been threats involved.
Being the dutiful husband, Frank decided it was the day to look at the drawer. He emptied it and took the whole drawer out. The way he works is to look at stuff. Really, just looks at stuff. He does it with the engine of my car. He just looks at it, then I take it to the mechanic the next day.
I figured I would end up calling Jay tomorrow. So Frank looked at my drawer today.
With him, he had a hammer, a large level, a square and a large flashlight. He made sure several things were level. He shined the flashlight on several things. He tried to fit the square into the hole without success, so he was not sure if anything was square.
He even asked me if I would hold the flashlight on some things so we double timed the tools by combining light on the level. So we had illuminated several things and found the gas valve was not level with the top of the drawer opening. Although that mattered not a whit to what was keeping the drawer from opening.
We then extended the drawer slides a million times. And looked.
While he was looking.......he saw a piece of wood in one of the drawer slides and not the other one.
Yep, this tiny piece of wood was keeping the drawer from completely closing.
This is the piece compared to a cashew.
And next to my salt shaker, and on a business card.
And...... we ceremoniously made a fire and burnt it among its brethren sticks of the yard.
OK, I won't make fun of him for just looking at stuff again....unless of course it is my car, which I will then take to the mechanic.
If you don't know the cause you have to look for it. I am impressed he looked, for a man that is almost as unheard of as reading the instructions and It did work.
ReplyDeleteNice job Frank. Now he has bragging rights that he was able to 'fix' the drawer when the twins and Jay could not.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your drawer is finally working correctly. Such a little piece of wood causing such grief! At least Frank looks first and just doesn't go after it with the hammer!
ReplyDeleteFunny - glad for the happy ending.
ReplyDeletePoor Frank. He really is the best husband on the planet.
