“Modern” Tragedy

My friend Marchita, our Baton Rouge Modern Guild president, fell off her riding mower on Monday. She fractured her skull and had bleeding in her brain.  She is in ICU.  What a horrible time to be in ICU in the middle of this crisis.

Today, she is IMPROVing. It’s like the perfect word, right?

She has been moved to a regular room today and started Physical Therapy.  So glad. She is older than dirt, into her 70’s. so she is a high risk in the virus world.

Marchita is the one who leads all the trips we’ve been on, Germany and England.  She also teaches my Modern Art History classes through  LSU.

So we need her to bounce bad soon!

Get better my friend!!!!!

  1. You stay safe and no riding mowers. Seriously I hope you and all are well.

  2. Every one of Terry's doctors stress to him to be careful not to fall. I remind him all the time to take his cane. He is 73, I am 68. Even though I fall a couple times a year I guess I worry more about him since his health is not good. I hope your friend has a quick and complete recovery.

  3. Oh my goodness! That is just awful what happened to your friend. It is wonderful that she seems to be healing. I will have her in my thoughts. You and Frank take care during these uncertain times. I am tryin to convince management I need to stay home and work and now be exposed in the job trailer to all the guys that move thru that place. After all, I am no spring chicken!

  4. That is a super sad story. I hope it has a happy ending and that she recovers well in spite of this crazy illness.
There will be no lawn mowing where I am. It is snowing pretty good outside as I type.
