Asterisk

Of course I decided to take the longest most difficult route to get the Asterisk quilt to completion as a top.  Of course.

But I like it.  It looks way different than the idea that started in my mind in January 2016  when took on the Rainbow Color Challenge that year.

I hit all the colors each month as she called them out, until August.  That was the month the flood hit.  So all colors stopped there.

When I picked up the challenge to finish a UFO for May in my River City Guild I chose  Asterisk.  The challenge only requires it to be finished to the top stage, but i am going to try to actually finish it. 


Maybe.  We shall see.  I feel particularly overwhelmed at the moment right now.

 I have the Girl baby quilt to put together for Carrie to gift to her friend. 

That top row is together so that is how wide it will be a lap size.

And Pinkie.  All Pinkie.  All over.

I like it.





I put the Green Boy Quilt on the Long Arm this afternoon and quilted the first pass.  I was going to quilt it with long straight lines down the quilt.



Best laid plans, and all.  I loaded it sideways. 

Why did I do that????????



So the straight lines would have gone across the quilt rather than down the quilt. 


I didn't want that.  So I went to Plan B.  We always have to have a Plan B, right? 




I had watched Angela Walters in a video doing some swirl quilting and decided that would be my Plan B. 






Not perfect, but all free hand.  This is the first pass. 

I am sure tomorrow by the time I get to the bottom of the quilt I will have mastered how to get around the swirls and how to echo myself out of all the spots I get myself into. 

Feels good.  Machine is cooperating.  Looks good.  All is well.

I am sure something will explode soon.

Quilt Top Finished

I got this far today on the Baby Greens. 

I still need to finish quilting the bird quilt.  I am 3/4 finished and finally got the tension issues sorted out.  I think it was the bobbin.  It must have wound weird or something.  Why I didn't think of that sooner.  It would have saved me a lot of grief.

 Tomorrow I am going to a Cambodian Art Fair downtown.  I saw a write up in the paper a couple of weeks ago and reached out to them, thinking it might be something interesting to see.

Maybe to have.  We had a lot of original art and my neighbor had a lot of Asian and Chinese art in her house.

The Cambodian Fair happens twice a month so if it is good we might make it something fun to do.

Downtown offers a lot of interesting things.  Like breakfast, those fabulous beignets........calories!

Yesterday Carrie and I went shopping for some clothes.  I have lost enough weight that most of my clothes no longer fit me.  Even the ones I bought after the flood seem  to hang on me now.  That is a good thing.  But I needed a few things that fit me better.  (so in compromise, today I ate a donut and a hamburger.)

I started another month of Performance Classes and these are Core Body work outs.  My shoulders and butt muscles are killing me from the Friday class!  But I can tell you that I was able to hold a plank position for one minute while using one hand to shake a rope back and forth 20 times!

Super Woman!

It wasn't pretty, form wise.  But that will get stronger as the month goes on.

Gotta start somewhere!

Baby Greens with a Blue Robin's  Egg

I am going to have to learn to do what they do here like this.

Confidence.  All those colors.  Those great, wonderful colors befuddle me, but I love them.  One day, one day. 

I am going to share what I am working on .... but really don't need to be working on .... because I really don't have time to be working on it.


Carrie asked me to find some piece of fabric she had cut out a couple years ago.  She has a friend having a baby boy and needs a quilt.  I pulled the pieces and slapped them on the design wall

We found some nice blue and slapped that up on the wall as an add in and in the next few days I will head over to her house to show her how to use it on the sewing machine I gave her for Christmas this year.

She has a great eye for color and pattern.  And well she should, she is a interior designer/architect.

She  really hates to piece, but I wanted her to use the sewing machine at least enough to understand how  to use is.  I will finished it at home.

And I can put it on the longarm and quilt it using the channel locks and long swipes of  straight line stitching.




Yes.  A quick quilt........ maybe.

But you know.....whenever I say that, something always goes drastically wrong, right?
