Challenge Bird and Improv Quilts

(I am linking up with a kokaquilts' Sew Stitch Snap Share #18) click here to go to see the post

Do you see this?

I love Rayna Gillman and her Improv Quilts!

My friend Patty the Quilt Lady has a quilt featured in Rayna's new book.  And somewhere in there She and Rayna discussed me and the flood........and there was a book headed in my direction!

Thank you Patty!

I spent a couple of wistful hours reading and looking at the pictures, as you know you would, right!  This is while I was waiting for my Guildmates who never showed up..........

Patty signed the page her quilt is on.  I totally love it.

Bird Challenge?  You don't expect me to pass up a Challenge of any sort, do you?  Oh, wait.......

You probably knew that, huh?

OK.  Bird.

This is Sawyer in his new wheels.  It makes vvvrooom-ing sounds when he pulls that gearshift lever.  Which he finally figured out how to do.

And the various things light up.  It is bright and happy and he loves those yellow eye things on the front. He leans over and looks at them all the time.

So I took the colors from his walker to make a Sawyer Bird.

His beak is dark blue like the bottom bumper.  And the lip looking things on the wing reminded me of the eye things that fascinate the boy.

And the legs are fat........just like Sawyer's little fat legs!  LOL.

I seem to have an issue with something on every bird.  See the 'square' head.  It is pretty accurate, because Sawyer's head is a bit flat in the back.....

But I went ahead and ripped it out and fixed it........hmmmm.

I guess it still can be a bit less square, but then it wouldn't be Sawyer-Accurate, would it......

You really can't tell unless you look at the kid sideways.  That is his other grandma he is talking to here.

Don't worry, I will fill his head with all kinds of trivia and it will pop out round like all the other kids........at least by first grade, huh?

I Dreamed I Was In An Art Class

Well, I didn't actually dream about the art class itself, but I did dream about the events around the art class.

This is what happened:

Patty the Quilt Lady and I decided we needed something different to shake up our lives.  So I flew up from Louisiana to Ohio where she lives.  We were going to take an art class at Ohio University!

So we both do a lot of walking so we decided to walk there.  We got there pretty quickly I guess because the next thing I knew is that we met this really nice art student guy who showed us to our dorm room.  Must have been a LONG class we were taking!

And of course Patty and I walked to the building where class would be held.

But it began to rain and they cancelled the class.  And it raining hard!  Pouring cats and dogs!

Now that Patty and I  couldn't walk anywhere, somehow we had her car.  And it was one of those little tiny cars.  But we fit into it with no problem.  As she was driving we had to cross a street that had water running across it.

And the car floated away with the current!  But we were not upset at all. In fact, Patty says to me, well it won't be the first time i have slept on these rocks!

Well, Patty, if you were a better driver maybe I would have figured out what the art class was about!

Next time I will drive.  We know how to navigate water here in Louisiana

Patty The Quilt Lady and Walking

Patty has always been sort of an icon for me.  She walks.  A lot.  Every day.

And she gets so much quilting done AND she works!   Definitely an icon.

See her rock and roll t shirt quilt HERE

the other day she told me she walked the construction site and totaled 22K steps on her Fitbit.

The most I have had is around 15 or 16K and that was on the cruise.  So I have been pushing it this week.  I hit 13.5K today.  But that was with a half mile morning dog walk, a .9 mile walk by myself mid morning, a late afternoon walk by myself for 1.2 mile and another half mile dog walk at 10 pm.

Good Lord, Girl!  You walked A LOT to get to 22K!

I need to find you on the fitbit challenge site and you can see how lazy I am on some days!

glen: hey, girlfriend, wait up!  I'm coming!
