Look how skinny I am........

I am linking up with Nina Marie's Off the Wall Friday.  One of my pledges this year is to participate in that great site more.

This was at the Modern Guild Meeting Show and Tell.  Look how skinny I look here.  I need to buy me a black door and just carry it around with me!

I  bought me a thimble.  I did extensive research to find what I should buy.   I know all the rage is the Roxanne thimbles.  This one was $6.50 and I got to have lunch with a good friend and visit with a few people at Daisy's Quilt Cottage.

Or Cottage Quilts.  I think.  Which ever it is, I got a new thimble.

And I wanted to show you one of the Corner Quilts that I actually like.  I love it.  Sometimes Corner Quilts Rule!!

Can you see the elephants in the backing?  I love me some elephants!!!

I plan on quilting a different background in each leaf block.  When I took it to the Quilt Haus I had sticky tabs on most of the blocks with the choice of background.  Now I  have to redo the tabs!

This quilt is the culmination of a project I did with a group of about 10 or 12 peopl  e from across the world.   We  would teach something, and everyone would use that technique and send you a block.  I taught  them how to do a curved seam.  If  you look closely, not everyone played along and did curved seams.  In fact, those people whined alot and did applique.

Regardless, I just love the quilt.  It is totally me!

At The Zoo Quilt

My prize (and money) winning At The Zoo  quilt was shown to a less than excited reception last night at the Remember Me Guild.  LOL.

They are traditionally traditional quilters and I knew it wouldn't be a HUGE hit, but it IS stinkin' cute!  I thought at least it would generate some ohs and ahs!

This is my week for meetings.  I have meetings in the second week of each month; I have meetings in the third week of each month.  And every once in a while they converge all in one week.  I am never sure how that happens, I guess it is Week 2 and a Half.

I need to start working on a few of these quilt tops and backs I have lined up for the long arm.  The pile keeps growing!  Which is a good thing, since that means there are quilts that are getting finished to the top stage at  least.

After I get to  point where I can feel comfortable starting some new quilts, i want to dive into the scrap boxes and see if I can do some strip blocks.  The Rainbow Scrap Challenge is designed to whittle down scraps in color groupings, but I chose blocks that have very little footprint fabric wise.  they happen to have a large footprint timewise however!

These are about 5 inches across (not on the side like normally measured).

I have also decided not to be so lazy and watch TV.  I need to be more productive doing a binding  while watching TV!

If you look at the sidebar, I have only finished 2 things so far this year and have a huge list of things to get finished.

So ........ I need to get working!

Stinkin' Cute Challenge Quilt

Oye!  Dios Mio!  Don't you just hate sitting through meetings where people just have no idea how meetings should be run.  And remember my rant about the money going to charity?  Fully 3/4 of the meeting was dedicated to either the Giving Quilt (a guild formed strictly to funnel quilts to charity) and people trying to convince our guild to give our money to Parker House (who used the money we gave them last year to take 8 kids to Disney World.)  Geez.

The meeting should have been focused on the Challenge and the members who made quilts to put in the challenge.

I think the priority of the guild has changed.  And not for the better.

But let me tell you about the GREAT QUILTS.

There were 25 quilts hanging in the challenge.  The Challenge was to use a single block in any way that created a secondary challenge.

I am telling you, my quilt is stinkin'  cute.  Just plain stinkin' cute.  I got 3rd place.  I would have voted for the one that won First Place (had mind not been so stinkin' cute!)

I am calling it At The Zoo!  Like Simon and Garfunkle's hit off the same name.

Here are the rest of the quilts  There are some beauties in there.  Each quilt has blue tape outlining the single block that creates the pattern.  See if you can see them all.

And which one would you have voted for?

You can see mine  in the background there.

The grey and white one took first place!

This one won 2nd place
