N is for.......... AND O is for...........

Catching up!     Fat Mum Slim - Photo a Day for the last two days!

N is for Naughty!  My dear friends Chuck and Patsy, with whom we traveled for many many years.  She is gone now, cancer.  And I miss her almost as much as he does.

O is for.........Orangutan

This handsome guy is at the Audubon Zoological Gardens in New Orleans.  It was last year about this time, on our anniversary trip ......  a weekend 60 miles down the road!

How can he balance like that on that pole like that?

M is for..........

Fat Mum Slim Photo A Day......M is for.......mist.

In May 2014, Carrie and Andrew sailed to Alaska with us.  Frank and  I flew up a few days early and took our rental Cadillac (we were stylin') and drove into the Cascades outside Seattle, WA.  It rained a fair amount of the time, so the days appeared drab.  It was still beautiful, considering home in Louisiana is pretty flat!

This is Diablo Lake Dam.  The mists are rising from the falling waters that run from Diablo Lake through the dam, turning the turbines to create electric.

The dam was built in the 30's and you can see the 30's style in the construction in those incredible lights.  As I walked across the dam road, I was swept into visions of Flapper Girls sporting long cigarette holders in tight thigh length fringe-y dresses.

They walk on the arms of square jawed men in tuxedos who go home and write paragraphs of Hemingway style prose, sitting in their wife beater undershirts and Brylcreem.

It was one of the places on earth that touched my soul.

Photog

You remember when I was doing the 52 Photos Project?  It was a fabulous website by Bella Cirovic.  She is a write an a photographer and put together this blog for 4 years.  The last installment was at the end of April 2016.  I knew I would miss it.

And I do.

So I have tried out several things, but nothing was a perfect for me as 52 Photos Project.   But this week I found a few things on Pinterest, but I have to work on it on my own as opposed to being in a comforting group.

I actually created some pretty cool photos.  And a few ideas for some modern quilts!

So I will play with this a while.  The prompts are set up for daily work, and that probably won't happen.  But I can work in order numerically.

And see what happens.  If anyone would like to join me, I can send you the website.  I have looked at her photo prompts before when I decided on 52 Photos.  I liked her approach.  However there were so many people involved, now the group followers number over 25K.

I am sure a significant number of those may not be active, and some are like me following independently.  But I like the fact that I can post to an Instagram link if I have a particularly fantastic photo that day.

Or week.

Whatever, I plan on having me some fun with the camera again!

Which brings me to my favorite word, photovoltaic.   It means converting light into electricity.
