A Stash Report and a Movie Review

Earlier this year we found the Movie Tavern.  I am in love with the fact that I no longer have to waste time just watching a movie, I can eat too!

We have never been big movie goers, or watchers at home either.  That said, I can show you Frank's office and you would think movies were our lives.  He has too much money on his hands and a finger poised on the purchase button at Amazon.  He has nearly two walls of movies. 

How many has he watched?  Very few, but he owns them!

But when the Movie Tavern came to town and served food, they had me. 

So we headed there for lunch today.  I sat in the nice soft reclining chair, pushed back, ordered me a Dr. Pepper and some Sliders and settled in for a funny movie.  That is not what I had.

Oh, yes, the Dr. Pepper and the Sliders, but the funny movie.........well.  In fact it might have been the stupidest movie I have ever seen.  Yep. Ever.  In my lifetime and my parent's lifetimes and my grandparent's lifetimes.  I don't think movies go back further than that.

When the movie ended, I was surprised......I  was still waiting for the plot to develop.  Or at least for the movie to get one.

As the credits rolled I turned to Frank, sort of stunned, and said, "I think that was the stupidest movie I have ever seen."  The theater erupted in laughter, it was the funniest line in the movie!

Oh, the movie was Hail, Ceasar! with George Clooney, Josh Brolin....and a host of other Hollywood biggies.  My question was simply, WHY?????

There was a pretty good recreation of the Sailor's Bar Room Dance in Anchors Aweigh.  Made me want to go out and find a sailor.

Sigh.......I could have been home with the dogs and quilting!  Or even cleaning something.

My stash report this week is the accumulation of the fabric for the At The Zoo top, the backing for the Breaking Bad quilt and a backing for the Stained Glass quilt I have been hiding from you in a pile on my floor for 2 or 3 years.  I will show it to you soon.  It really is a nice one that I love.  And another one I can't get rid of..........

Next Project - Like a Ton of Bricks!

Hope this finds you all well and happy and full of good food and family.  Today we were left to ourselves, so we grabbed a few friends and had lunch at the Movie Tavern while watching Concussion with Will Smith.  Such a talented actor, he is.  Excellent movie.  Definitely see it.

And if you do go to a Movie Tavern, don't order the Stuffed Portabello Mushrooms because in the beginning of the movie they do a bunch of autopsy stuff on brains.........and in the dark they both look the same.

While we were together on Christmas Day, Fayne had a project request for me.  Seems she has a collection of bricks that need covering.  She wondered if I had extra batting laying around.....uh, hell yeah!










Finally, a use for those millions of pieces I have been collecting.  Don't judge......I know you have a batting stash too.........

I got my hot glue gun and proceeded to glue the brick to my dining room table.  Aside from that it was pretty easy to cover the brick.  My, bricks are heavy......




 So I pulled some typing paper and some markers and proceeded to make myself a pattern. 

And cut the pattern out of the heavy muslin I love so much.  






Then I had a great idea.  I took the markers and found where the top of the brick would be sitting in the space.  The internet provided me with a couple of cute and easy embroidery patterns, which I traced (using the washable markers) in the area.

I probably violated 15 copyrights but I am not selling this for any large amounts of money, it is a prototype.  When I get into mass production I will draw my own cute drawings.




So, here I am with my little drawer of embroidery threads.  We shall see if I still have what it takes to do hand work.   

Stash Report (Go 100) and Dinner AT the Movie

I generally don't do movies.  Mostly because they are either stupid silly or violent.  Frank made peace with that a long time ago!  He was at one time very upset that I refused to see a movie that was bloody and violent, since that was the stuff of my real nightmares.  So he now waits to see them when he goes out of town.  Keeps him out of places he doesn't need to be in anyway!  Those women would find out he vacuums and they would be all over him!

And all the perfume.  I don't know why people think I need to be overwhelmed with the sweet scents they douse themselves with.  It gives me horrible migraines.

But I wanted to experience the new Movie Tavern that opened a few months ago.  So we chose Bridge of Spies, Frank  assured me it wold not be violent.  (He also had assured me the thing at Disney World was not a roller coaster, so I was suspicious.)

It was not violent, but very good in fact.  A true story, Tom Hanks did a great job acting, Steven Speilberg directed it well.  I liked it a lot.

The food was good and not expensive, the seats reclined like a luxurious Lazyboy Chair and the waiter was hilarious.  I totally enjoyed the entire experience and would go back again if there was another non-violent, non-silly movie. 

So for a stash report.

Charlene and the GO! Miracle Machine cut all those binding strips!  And they are ALL put on their respective quilts now.  I will claim the fabric now and the finishes when they occur.

And you know what?  I just keep going and going and going!  nearly 89 yards down!  I wonder if I can hit 100?????????
