Finished Up With the Pillowcases

All I have been doing is pillowcases!  And now they are done.

Here are the final offerings:

For the Chef!  I accidentally cut that wild greenish yellowish green.  I love the color, it is in my beloved solids piles.  I kept pulling it back and saying, I don't need to use it, then I found the perfect veggies to go with it.

I only had one yard of the elephants, you know how I love me some Ellies!

So I used the edge fabric to make the body of the next.  And I used it all up!

 Mardi Gras!

Who can resist the Bon Temps Roulet of Mardi Gras!

So I pulled out the panel I got for Sawyer when Howard took me to one of the quilt shops in Wake Forest, NC.  I found the backing in the sale bin.  Perfect pair!

After talking to Carrie the other day, I will definitely keep this little quilt at my house for him.  I may never see it again if I sent it home with him.  I have to wait till he is older and can fall in love with things.

I will put this little one on the Avante frame and zip it up.  Nothing fancy, just a little fun for a little boy!

Frank has gout again.

Pillowcases

I took this pile of miscellaneous fabrics and turned them into pillowcases.

Even more amazing, I spelled that "m" word in the prior sentence without the need for spelllcheck!  And got it right!  LOL

I have two Russian Dolls

Aquarium Fish and Viva Las Vegas

Eclipse?

Dogs.  But of course!

I wanted to use this train fabric for a great male oriented
pillowcase, but it was in part of the fabric that came in contact with my dye jars in the flood.

I trimmed the border on my Leaves quilt.  This one was on the frame when the waters came up.  It sat rolled up on the bars in the Quilt Haus while we rebuilt.  I finished it up when I got the frame set back up  in the house.

Now I need something to sew on while I am at the CAAWS building this weekend.  We are getting a new AC/Heating system put in.

I want to commend myself for choosing the most perfect border fabric for an amazing quilt!

....pat myself on the back a bit.....

Eclipse and a NEW Project

Yesterday I said that in that contraption with al the stuff on it, Sawyer looked like the Daleks in Dr. Who.  Actually, I was thinking about the leader of the Daleks, Dr. Davros.  I just couldn't think of his name.  I came across a site that listed all the monsters in the series and spent a considerable amount of time looking for this guy.  It just kept bugging me!

But he really does look like a happier Davros, doesn't he.

I know I listed a lot of things I need to work on, but I decided to add yet another project to my workload.  yes, Like the glutton for punishment, what are we unless we are pushing ourselves to the outmost limit......right?

You know I have been doing Physical Therapy, which by the way has relived 95% of all the pain,   And there is Sy and Trinity who own the place.  And Cara, TJ and Tyler who are the PT Techs working with me.  And Sy and Trinity have two girls and a boy.

I figure that is 8 pillow cases.

I made one today, getting the measurements straight.  I put some chicken and peppers and onions into the crockpot and sewed until the eclipse started.

These are photos from the TV coverage Madras OR.

I  emptied a box of Chocolate Crave Cereal (hey, don't judge) and took these photos of the eclipse as it happened here in Baton Rouge.
The cereal box was interesting.  Frank got home halfway though the event and was amazed at the eclipse as it passed through North Carolina where we had just been

This is what we saw here, well, I didn't because I didn't have glasses......but I digress.

This is the real eclipse and on the  right is the one I made.

I think I got it pretty good, huh?

My Neighbor's Strange and Unusual Tree

This is the Duffle Bag from UFO pieces left over from a doggy quilt I use on my side of the bed.  I learned long ago I could not share a blanket with Frank if I wanted to be warm.  Not a problem now because I have 2 million quilts.  Thereabouts.

And I have finished 3 of the 4 pillow cases finished I plan on donating with the Duffle to the CAAWS Volunteer Thank You Party and Annual Membership Meeting.

I have some leftover pieces from the pillowcase fabrics that I will make into some zippy pouches.  These look like good prospects.

But let me tell you about my neighbor's strange and unusual tree.  It is a pine tree.  But when the needles fall they stand up.

Yes, they stand up.  Not just one or 10, like the MAJORITY of them.

This is Nancy's tree.  Nancy is just so cool!

This is my other neighbor Dale's tree.  Normal, boring pine needles.  I must talk to him about this.  I have higher expectations if he is to continue to live next to me...........

Pillowcases Use Up A Fair Amount of Yardage

I made 6 pillowcases today.

So that is a yard each for the bodies.

1/4 yard each for the trim and the cuff.  Or thereabouts.

That is 7 1/2 yards and that is what I am claiming!

What prompted the pillowcase marathon was the fact that I now own a pair of  celeriac green sheets for the new mattresses.  And none of my current pillowcases "go" with that green.  The last set of sheets for the old queen mattress were either a rich beige or a cool blue.

These sheet sets are a rich ruby red and a celeriac green.  The reds make the Ellie quilt look just marvelous!  the green not so much.  But it is what it is.

 Two pink with butterflies.
One grapes with beige.

One orange with cows and sunflowers!

And a special one for Frank with his birds.  He wanted these so badly!  He really likes parrots.  and I didn't have enough so I made enough.  It is the only one without french seams and a real cuff.

And a special one for William when I deliver his quilt to his momma!

MONKEYS!

Quilting - Of a Sort

I had to do something.  I drank the kool-aid and went to that quilt shop closing sale three times now.  All I did with the fabric was to photograph it for you and toss it on my quilt room table.

Good for you, not good for me!

So I went in there today, wrapped all the pieces on backer boards and tried to find a place for them to live until called upon for duty.  It was not easy finding an opening.  Anywhere.

And to make matters even worse....well not exactly worse......here are the fabrics i brought home from Alaska.  Don't worry, they are for pillowcases, and just enough for pillowcases, nothing more.

It seems I have a freestanding bookcase of Modern and one of the built in bookcases with everything else.  And I have boxes of stuff in other places too so don't think this is all of it.  I have about this much in a total of 4 other places.  But we won't talk about that, will we.

I feel like President Clinton at the height of Monica Scandal:  "I did not have sexual relations with that quilt shop."

.........maybe Frank will write a book and run for President..........

Two Busy Days

The last two days have been busy with classes.  I taught a pillow case class today and prepped them for paper piecing next week.  Here are some pictures from that group.

Silly girls!

Showing quilts to the group

Then yesterday the other group got together and I completed 9 more Twisted Sister Halloween blocks.

No one else did a thing!  LOL.  But we did talk a lot!  Judy T. showed up and we talked some more!  Then Norma's glasses disappeared and we spent the rest of the afternoon tearing the room apart looking for the elusive glasses.  Turns out, when Judy left she just picked up the glasses laying on the table and left thinking they were hers!  LOL.

Norma loaded a quilt on her long arm and I watched hoping to pick up some pointers.  I learned a lot!  Thanks, Norma.  So I guess we did get some stuff done!
