Tuesday plan

Today I plan on coming home from quilting and hanging around with the dogs after lunch.  I have a Sew-In at Red Stick and some work on my Paint Chip Challenge.

Yeah, yeah, I KNEW it was due in August.......yeah, yeah, I KNEW I had to get to work on it.

But what is my life but deadlines and too little time?

Red Stick Sew Day - the fabulous five

There were 5 of us sewing today.  I generally have an idea of who is coming, but it is a wonderful surprise when they actually get there and walk in the door!  I do so enjoy being there and working with everyone.

Today we had Paula, April, Charlene, Ann and me.  Most worked on a duffle bag and I made  messed up making a bag to hold Carrie's birthday present, it was too small......I am not sure how that happened.  Duh.  So tonight I remade one in the correct size.  I just need the handle for it.  I want to get some webbing.  No it is not a duffle bag, just in case Carrie is reading this, which I am pretty sure she is not........sigh.

I wanted a small (operative word here is small) purse to hang around my shoulder so I guess I have now now!  LOL.  Yes, they all laughed at me, it was a silly mistake.

Charlene is doing hers in Halloween fabrics for Grand-daughter Sammy.  I never thought of a seasonal duffle bag!  But I love it.  Sammy is a Halloween lover and these fabrics are leftovers from a quilt Charlene is making for her.  A great way to use up leftovers and have something you know the receiver will love!



Charlene and Paula both left with their bags in various stages, but April went home and finished hers right up.  She sent me this picture.  I asked for permission and haven't heard back, but I am sure she would love to show it off to you.

I do so love the way it doesn't matter what fabrics you use, the bag looks just terrific any way you do it!!!

Yes!  Great work ladies!  I enjoyed spending the day with you all!

Sewing The Day Away Among Friends!

I spent the day with two friends sewing (not enough sewing got done!)  But I did get some blocks of houses done and made some additional trees to put in more blocks.  I am now catching up with my houses and need to start making more houses too!  This is not all of my current houses, but look how many!  And the trees are fabulous in there.  Can you see them?  Each block finishes at 4 x 4 so that is about 25 x 25 right now and is 4 "blocks".


Paula got her moose drawn for her brother's quilt.  It will be a Northcountry Moose Quilt full of luscious brown plaids.  Yum.

And Norma did some embroidery for her signature Christmas Stockings and chose some fabrics for a tumbler quilt she is starting.  I wish you could see that cute doggie she is making.  Darn.

Sew Day for Guild Charity Quilts

Today was the second sew day for the Charity Quilts at Sassi Strippers.  7 of us gathered to cut and sort last time.  This time we sewed and cut background strips.  Jessie. Linda and I ran sewing machines, Valerie V ironed, Valerie B cut, Merline laid out the pattern.

The pattern we are using is a mystery  Valerie B found that is designed to be made for Charity Quilts.  So we are in total compliance with the rules on this one!  LOL.

We want to have these finished for the Annual Quilt Show in August at the Library.  We have not decided where the quilts will be donated yet, but we have time to figure that out later!

The pattern was easy to do but it was confusing to put together.  I ripped out several after I thought I had gotten the hang of it all.  Jessie made fun of me ripping all those blocks, then she did the SAME thing!  LOL.

We will meet again to do the next stage of sewing in a few weeks.  I took home the blocks Jessie and I made so I can put them together.  And I made Valerie V take a packet of cut out pieces so she can start to work from a pattern. 

We might make it.  We just might make it if we all give that extra effort!
