Design Wall Monday 7-16-12

I have a frustrated design wall this week.  I have just under 1/2 left to do on the quilt for Dan with the lizard quilting.  And I did three rows of lizards yesterday when I realized my tension is bad again.  I tested it before I began again and it looked perfect.  But when I got to quilting, and rolled the quilt, it was really loose on the bottom and the top had begun to pull through.

I undid one row fairly quickly but the second row took three CDs on the book I am listening to and I am only half way.  Aughhhhhhh!

This week I NEED to work on the Paint Chip Challenge (which I can't show you!) and get the borders done so I can decided to do a Quilt As You Go in each block or do the whole thing on my domestic head.  I don't' have the space on the quilt frame to do what I want to do with it.  So I am leaning toward QAYG.

However, I have never gotten the back to play nicely on the QAYG stuff.

This Is DiNozzo's New Thing......and a Stash Report

I am reading the paper this morning and I hear sounds I am not familiar with.  Since DiNozzo came to us, we investigate all these occurrences.  You never know what he has in his mouth next.

This is what I see.  My Mother's Day Present the Zero Gravity Chair.  He used to get up there and and try to eat the pillow part.  Luckily it is attached to the chair.  This time, rather he meant to or not, he just stared at me staring at him, and lay down.

I want to do my Paint Chip Challenge as a Quilt As You Go.  Anyone have a good tutorial?  The blocks are so big and it needs some specific quilting, I think that is the way to do it.

My stash report this week is paltry.  Nothing used and nothing bought.  A record I think!  I am about 10 yards over but I keep saying, once I get those lizards off the long arm, I can put on about 5 quilts in July and get those done.  I can count the backs as outgoing!  Yes.  That will eat up some yardages!

QAYG Blocks done today

That's 28 so far!
I am constantly amazed at how different these quilts look in photographs and on the design wall.

I want to do a solid sashing since there are so many fabrics going on here.  I would have decided already but you know me, I don't make decisions easily.

I am really liking these babies.  And they are pretty fast, this is about 2 1/2 hours worth of work.  And I think I have 92 of the blocks.  Approximately.  So in the next few days I need to make a decision.

I was thinking this was a charity quilt, but maybe not.

A friend fell from a 10 foot ladder and banged himself up pretty badly and I am thinking he might need some quilt comfort.

Design wall Monday 4-4-11 (The Plan)

Actually it is a Design Box today.  You probably saw this last week but please know that I finished two things this week and still have the binding to sew on one and complete on yet another. So I got sidetracked.  But there were finishes.......and that is better anyway.

In the Design Box are 92 (or so to the nearest count) 6 1/2 inch squares of batting paired with 92 (or so) 7 inch squares of stash fabric.  The batting is leftover from the Inspiration Roses Quilt and the cat fabric backs are leftover from some project years ago that included several tote bags.
I bought the cat fabric over 5 years ago at Hobby Lobby for $2 a yard and I must have gotten 92 yards of it.  It may have even been $1 a yard at that time, I did not worry about the pattern.  I was really looking for yardage for backs.
The Plan is to use up my strips and squares in the scrap stash for diagonal strip squares and place them in a pleasing arrangement.  When all put together I won't have to quilt it!

That should take a couple of days if I can get a few days with no major catastrophes!
