This is why I advise never to give money to the HSUS

They do nothing to truly help the animals, their goal is to get legislation going.  And their handling of the Katrina Animals was horrible.  They kicked organizations like CAAWS out of the shelters and refused to allow local organizations the opportunity to reunite many of the animals with their owners by moving them across the country immediately.

This is a good explanation of what HSUS is really good at.
