Someone recently asked me about a blue coat in Swissys. Here is a draft team from the Southbound Specialty in mid April 2016. These guys are owned by my wonderful friends Danny and Linda. The grey coat is a gene thing that occurs about 1 in 10,000.
Dash, who is the grey guy, has a lighter red on his legs as well.
The greys are not eligible for the show ring.
There is also a more rare red coat Totally looks like a
Swissy with no black at all. They are really odd looking with that missing black.
Only black base coats are allowed in the show ring. But they still make great dogs, they are Swissys after all!
Oh yes, they are pulling a cart. that is one of the things Swissys were bred to do. Their jobs.
My dogs had all the carts and harnesses too. they love it.
Gosh, I miss my Swissys! Bassets are just not the same.
well I saw our neighborhood 9 month old male swissy pulling his man the other night. Just about off his feet he was. That pup is a specimen for the books. LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful, but I bet feeding them is a job. I love Dash's coloring, but we've always favored those dogs with the more unusual coloring.
