Center of Concordia Finished — Happy New Quilt!

I spent today working on finishing up the center.  It still needs some wide borders which will create a negative space.  It will essentially float the center in a sea of negativity!

Meanwhile, for Xmas we gave each other a nice electric smoker.  Today I brined some chicken breasts and slathered them in brown sugar and paprika.   And electric smoked for the first time.  The last smoker we had was lost in the flood. It was wood fired, so this electric one was a new wrinkle.  Some mistakes were made.  I bought wood logs, but you need chips.  So while the smoke box was seasoning, we hit Lowes and bought some apple wood chips for smoking chicken.

Incredibly flavourful and super moist chicken happened!

Pork roast next!

  1. Smoking is such a great plan. Excellent flavor for not a whole lot of effort. We do large batches of food and free in meal size portions. Roaster chickens and pork loins - oh my.

  2. I am just catching up on reading your posts since I was off. The quilt is beautiful - very mid-century modern. That chicken sounds amazing and doing pork with the apple wood chips ought to be really tasty!
