Early in the morning hours the city knocked on my door to let us know they were taking down my fence. Oh, yeah, dogs...…
So they took down the fence.
They came in and dug a hole about 10 feet deep until they found the main sewer line. they cut the pipe and replaced a section where the break was located. They then reattached our smaller house line to the main line.
They also cut a phone line that services the majority of the neighborhood.....oops.
Now I have a pipe sticking up in the middle of the back yard and a lot of mud. They will be back later to lay some sod. Nice.
When they replaced the fence across the end of the driveway, they fixed the sticky gate that Frank has been saying he was going to fix......Nice.
Well, a little bad created some good too! HA
ReplyDeleteIowa is melting it's snow. Tonight the wind is blowing like crazy, which will dry up some of the water standing around. And it's going to be warm (35-45 degrees) and cool (mid to low 20's) at night. That will give our water a chance to go down. The city street guy came today and went up the hill, on the road they closed because it was a mud bog, and rearranged the snow to channel the melting into the farm field instead of into the neighbor's yard and into our road. I have company coming, the only way to get to my house is the back gravel road. Hopefully the wind will help dry it enough. I have mud too.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are actually ahead on this one! Fixed pipe, sod, new fence, fixed gate. All from the city? Wow, I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteA disruption but way better than it could have been. I am so happy for you that it turned out so well and that the guys were helpful. Geaux Baton Rouge!
ReplyDeleteSo is this all related to the other plumbing issues? I hope it is all fixed now.
ReplyDeleteGlad the gate got fixed - sorry about all that mud (and resulting muddy paws).
