Remember that Grey Fabric From Yesterday........

That light grey fabric from yesterday was some that I had pre-flood.

It must have been close to the proximity of some Procion Dye containers.  there was a whole group of fabric that got some fugitive dye trapped in the fibers.

And there was the possibility it also had some blood.

I am not confirming nor denying that fact, but there was some red streaks on the grey fabric as well.  I did have jars of red and yellow Procion dyes in there, so, just sayin'.

At Joann's the other day, a tie dye kit just happened to jump into my basket.  It was on sale for $7.99 and felt like it needed to live with me for a while.   And it brought its friend, a red and yellow kit as well.

Doesn't that blue bird bath look great with my dye bath fabrics?

So this morning I was successful in dyeing both my hands green.  I told my performance classmates as I attempted to do four push ups (and failed, I only did three but it was two more than last month) that gloves are for sissys.

Along with these beauties, that used to be ugly grey streaked with some random fugitive blue dye and some potential crime scene blood there were some nicely colored wooden clothes pins.

I will iron them out and show you nice pictures tomorrow.  I am going to celebrate with a burger and fries tonight......just sayin'

One Monthly Goal - December 2017

                   1.  Quilt at least one top (Sawyers Quilt?)
                    2.  Get at least one binding done (triangles or Improv Stripes)
                    3.  Doorways piece for Fiber Group (due Dec 14)
4,  Finish One Road Thru Town
                    5.  Quilt Pink Quilt for Kaitlyn
                    6.  Quilt the Blue Squares for Malachi

It is time for setting December Goals for the One Monthly Goal.....although mine might be the MMG.....More Monthly Goals! Click on the link above and you will be taken to a land of wonder and fun!

I have set 6 goals, but I will shoot to finish any 4.  They are all things I really want (or need) to work on.

1.  I have had Sawyer's Quilt finished for a while now.  It got moved to the Long Arm Room and it did not get quilted. So I moved it to hang over the frame bars.  And it still did not get quilted.  Now i moved it to this list!

2.  I have both the Triangles and the Improv Stripes quilted (last month's OMG) and they are ready for binding.  I am hoping to get both done actually.

3.  I have to get that Doorways piece done...........just do it.  Carol of Quilted fabric art gave me an idea that was pretty cool, so at least now I have an idea.

Pink Front
4.  I need to put the backing on One Road and it will be done.  I just need to figure out how I want to hang it for the show.

Pink backing
5 and 6.  I decided to send two quilts to my nephew's kids in Washington State.  Pink is finished and Blue is finished so they can be quilted with a quick pattern and given a binding.  And sent off to Washington.

I guess I need to tackle 5 and 6 first!

And I bought a really good iron to replace the one I bought to replace the one that leaks all over the darned place.  a Rowenta.  I like this one a lot better.  It still turns off, but the setting dial stays on hot.  And it takes like 8 minutes before it turns off.

I am happier!

Smells Like Fish

I pulled a number of blues and put them together in some improv hour glass blocks.  They are pretty straight for improv blocks, let me tell you.  If I were trying to make them straight, i couldn't have done it this well.....geez.

So I was trimming them up and working out placement when I thought, something's fishy.

I cut fabrics and paired them, so I had an even number of them.  Each two, made two.  Combined for the second cut, again, two blocks made two blocks. Hmmmm.......

I had an even number of blocks on the design wall.

And one extra.  Just one.

Uh, huh.  So this quilt is going to be like that, huh?

I guess it just got its name......Something's Fishy.

Someone recently asked me about a blue coat in Swissys.  Here is a draft team from the Southbound Specialty in mid April 2016.  These guys are owned by my wonderful friends Danny and Linda.  The grey coat is a gene thing that  occurs about 1 in 10,000.

Dash, who is the grey guy, has a lighter red on his legs as well.

The greys are not eligible for the show ring.

There is also a more rare red coat  Totally looks like a
Swissy with no black at all.  They are really odd looking with that missing black.

Only black base coats are allowed in the show  ring.  But they still make great dogs, they are Swissys after all!

Oh yes, they are pulling a cart.  that is one of the things Swissys were bred to do.  Their jobs.

My dogs had all the carts and harnesses too.  they love it.

Gosh, I miss my Swissys!  Bassets are just not the same.

The UFO Challenge at Patchwork Place and Design wall 1-3-11

Judy asked us to list our UFOs we wanted to work on # 1 through 12.  I put 2 in each month because I have sooooooo many I wanted to get a number of them done this year.

She chooses a number at the first of every month, this January 1st she chose # 6.  In my list that was the Orange Snowball Mystery and the Outhouse Blocks.  Both perfect choices because the Mystery is due next Thursday and the Outhouse blocks will be perfect for a wild and modern quilt in the Inspiration Challenge.  (I may get nothing done this year but challenges, but hey.....)

I spent a few hours this afternoon and tonight working on my Orange Snowball Mystery and got the center put together.   I put the blue one on the design wall and laid the orange blocks over the blue blocks to make placement and turning easier.  It was a challenge to get it all laid out correctly when I did the blue one.

Tomorrow I should have some time to work on the snowballs on the outside edge.  They are all put together, they just need to be sewn in strips and attached to the inner border that needs to be put on.  Aside from nothing being equal in size and no block being the correct size, it went together fairly quickly this afternoon.  I had most of the work done on the pieces from the months of keeping up with the mystery.  The blue snowball mystery will have to go to the quilt meeting with no backing or quilting.

Inner border will be the orange and the snowballs will be the light with the fossil fern surrounding them.  It will be bright!
