I guess you are wondering what binding I went with. Carol was right, it needed the dark brown. It in innocuous and does not call attention to itself. Both the medium and lighter colors were glaring along the edge and looked like another design element.
I will hand sew down the binding tonight. Wait till you see the great label I put on it! I did one of those corner triangle labels since I did not sew the label into the backing like I usually do. But the wording on the labels is what I was so inspired to put on there. Actually I paraphrased one I found on Pinterest.
It says: William, this quilt was made for you! You can place it upon your bed. It is not an heirloom so lay on it and dream. You can count sheep or perhaps lay it upon the grass and gaze at the stars. It can be a superhero cape or it can comfort you when you are sad. Use it and wear it out! And when its days are through, I will make you another!
I think he might like it! I certainly do!
I wrote it up as a pattern. One day I might be famous enough for someone to want to buy something from me........and you can say you knew me when!

Quilting Complete on the Football
I slapped it on the long arm and quilted it in record time. I should be competing with somebody because I finished the top this afternoon and the quilting tonight. I think the binding will get done tomorrow. A 24 hour turn around!Of course the quilting is not complicated, just a medium sized meander.
But nothing is without difficulty. The thread I chose was a Connecting Threads small spool of variegated brown/tan/red/blue. As I was winding the bobbin and the thread kept ending. I had three bobbins of various small lengths, and I needed a fourth to complete the last row of the quilt. Pain in the patooty.
But the quilting went along easily and like I said, it finished in about an hour.
There are actually three browns, the dark football, the medium back and the light laces. I think the binding needs to be the medium brown. Although after looking at it in the light tomorrow, it may be that the dark brown is better.
I am loving this baby! It is my favorite quilt! I hope Caroline loves it as much as I do. But I am thinking she is more like Carrie than me. And I am not sure that she will feel as strongly about it! Maybe little William will fall in love!
Oh, Frank wanted me to cut the sides so it would actually look like a football. He is very literal. He did not like the square-ness of the football. I told him to get over it.
Football Quilt
Ok. At some point it occurred to me that I could use the iPad and send the photos to my computer.
I think it just might be my favorite quilt yet!

Baby Quilt Necessary
A very dear couple friend has become grandparents! Our daughters met at preschool. Frank was President of the PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization). And Renee was the Vice President. One of the things they did was to put globes in every classroom! And become friends!
So they beat me in the Grandparent Race. Last Wednesday Caroline delivered a healthy baby boy named William Donahue Kline. They are over the top on the happiness scale.
And this baby needs a quilt!
So I made one in EQ. I have decided on this one. I will even out the top and the bottom and do the sides a bit differently. But that is the basic plan.
The family is heavy into LSU football, Michael has had season tickets forever. His momma, who is in her 90's is still attending them! So this will be just perfect for little William!
I need to go pull some fabrics.........I probably don't have what I need despite having a room CRAMMED with fabric.
Isn't that always the case?
