Friday Off the Wall at Nina Marie's Creations

Last weekend I didn't post to the Wall because i was at a workshop with Marianne Williamson.  She is an international fiber artist who lives in Florida.  She is from Switzerland so she was raised with a different view of fabric.  There were no quilt stores or fabric shops in any close proximity so she had the same mindset as the early American pioneers -- use what is at hand.

To this end, she uses polyester, silks, satins, laces, cotton, blends, jeans, duck, whatever flies past her needles.  She often sees someone walking down the street in a silky poly flowered dress and gives them a card saying when they are ready to part with the dress she will pay them for the fabric!

you can see her work at .  On the front page of the site, you will see her cute little 4 foot 5 tall body.  But she is a spitfire, don't let size fool you!

She is an artist who sees no problems, only possibilities.  If you don't like it, change it up.

Paint, fabric, inks, and lots and lots and lots of thread!

My work is about 1/3 of the way done, but according to Marianne, it is NEVER done!

You will see my sunset flowers grow as the month goes on.

  1. Oh I do like this - look forward to seeing the finished work!

  2. Great color combinations. The orange against the green really pops!

  3. Sounds like a fun workshop. I love her work.

  4. Fun! I will check out her website, it is nice to see new to me teachers.

  5. Looks great! Very artistic, she seems like a great teacher. Her work reminds me of some of the masters of art - Monet, Van Gogh etc just beautiful

  6. this is an enthusiastic piece. Was it fun to work with different textiles?
