Leaf

My friend Michael is moving to Texas to be closer to his family.  I am so so sad to see him go.  He is a major force in the quilting and fiber arts world in the south.  His work is incredibly beautiful and creative.  As an accomplished teacher, he has shared his knowledge with so many of us.

I have learned so much from just talking with him in a meeting or at a show.  He has given me advice and  praise for my own work as well.

He is just a really nice guy and a great artist!  I will miss him but I know he has to be with his family.

My Contemporary Fiber Arts of Louisiana (CFAL) group is doing something for him that involves leaves.  So tonight I made this one to include in the project.

I am so happy with it.  I can't wait to see what some of the other Fiber Artists do.

  1. Your friend will really appreciate this lovely leaf. I hope that you get to snap a few pics and write a post about the project. I'm quite curious about what CFAL puts together. No doubt it will be interesting. Actually, I'm curious about several aspects of the project, so if you get the chance, write a detailed post. (Nothing quite like a demanding request. Isn't that an apropos oxymoron?)

  2. I love the pops of color against the muted fabric - beautiful combination of colors. It'll be cool to see the cfal project in completion.
