Yesterday was a birthday at the Quilt Haus! We celebrated with lunch at La Madelaine's wonderful French Restaurant. And presents! Yes.
She does not adhere to the Birthday Week idea, yet. I gave her a fancy box that will hold blocks andthings needed for a quilt all in one place. It was filled with all sorts of little things, like a ceramic knife and a gift card for an outfit for a cruise she will be going on shortly.
While we worked in the morning I got another quilt finished to the top stage. It is called Machine. And, silly me, all it needed was the outside borders! I washed the backing last night, something I generally do not do, but it felt stiff with that sizing. It came from Connecting Threads so I am not really sure why that was.
So it will go into the to be quilted pile. And what in the world would you do? Maybe a quilting path like Krista does? That might be the only way to go on this one.
I started this quilt way back several years ago, maybe three. It came from V and Co. She calls it Handmade. (click on it to go to the pattern.) When she showed the quilt, I immediately fell in love with it.
The rest of the machine is fabric from my stash. Although she does sell kits.
I was going to present this as a mystery quilt. It would have been a fabulous one!
I used to follow her blog daily but now that she started doing patterns/books and fabric all she wants to do is sell you stuff. She no longer posts casually and friendly like. It is all business.
I miss that. Now I am just a consumer to her.
(Geez, I must be having a bad week or something!)
I guess it is obvious I have nothing to sell to you. If I did, I might present this blog in a totally different way.
I am still working on my word for this year. Now I am thinking it might just be "sock it to 'em with Honesty".
So it you want to hear it straight.......give me a call.
So the machine it the entire top? How big is it? It would be a wonderful design to give someone who sewed! I like your word! I haven't come up with one for this year yet. So far with two cold in two months maybe my word should be Cold-Eeese!
ReplyDeleteA word? One. Single. Word.
ReplyDelete??
Impossible. For me anyway. I like a good ramble....lots of words.
I don't enjoy overly commercial blogs. There was a Canadian blogger I used to really enjoy but she's gone all pattern-sell-sell-sell-crazy....I miss her old blogs.
This sewing machine flimsy is very cool. It pleases me. How big is it?

when I followed your link, I was surprised to see how big that sewing machine is. I share you disappointment in bloggers that seem to "flip the switch" and change the tone of their blog from interesting to commercial. I have a category, "too commercial" for those blogs, along with the ones that are so chock-ful of ads that they take forever to load and/or the ads are just too distracting. I might open that folder if I am looking for something specific on their blog, but mostly, I just step them.
ReplyDeleteThat would make a good mystery quilt - all those half square triangles and who would ever guess they are making a giant sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteI think people who sell stuff should have a website dedicated to that and have their blog separate. When I follow people on social media the minute they start posting about go here to buy my this and go there to buy my that - I unfollow and unlike. Like trump says - "you're fired!"
