And we had a trunk show of her work. She was adept at pulling colors together to make a beautiful visual impact. She was an excellent seamstress and she created beautiful quilts with fairly detailed blocks. She liked trying new things, new combinations. And she always participated in challenges and classes in several guilds.
The family asked if the guild could finish the quilts and hold a sale of her fabrics and notions. That is scheduled for Sept 30, 2017. Hopefully I can get there to get some good deals.
Joni was able to buy Debbie's Avante and has quilted the 23 quilts she brought to the meeting. I took two baby quilts home to finish sewing the binding.Debbie had 5 boys and a girl, 2 of whom are still living at home. Her daughter is pregnant, due in a couple months. Just having been there for the birth of my own grandchild, I really felt for her not having her mom there for her.
Now that makes me want to go in and finish some quilts! I need to make some sort of deal with myself. I need to finish two for every one I make, and finish that one too!
Or maybe finish three for each new one.........Joni challenged us with the question:
What would your guild have to finish for you if you left this earthly plane too soon?
And when I watch My 600 Lb Life I want to go work out!
I seem to have a lot of things to fix.
What a thought provoking question Joni asked. And yes, you're are right - we all have a lot of things we procrastinate over . . .
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your loss. It is nice that everyone is pitching in to finish Debbie's quilts. I think about that all the time i.e. my son's burden with all my crap. Since I am done with the R.E.M. piece finally I am going to clean house! I haven't done much cleaning since I started working on it and the house is a mess. There will be lots of tossing and donating as I am getting overwhelmed by my belongings. Habitat for Humanity will do pick up at my house. I already have a pile started and will add to that to clean some stuff out!

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your friends passing. I would be totally embarrassed of all my tops that are waiting lol. I am taking a stand on that now that I have been placed in a chemo unit (hubby) every three weeks. I think I can finish 2-3 in that time frame.
