Nova Scotia - Baddeck

That is pronounced BA-deck for you people who are not here.  Local citizens talk fast too, we sat next to a couple in the Pub who said they were from Rhode Island. I swear he said that.  Turns out they were from a 3 Word place that sounds a lot like Rhode  Island---- Prince Edward Island.  Yep. They talk fast.

well, the leaves are changing and the whole place shut down on Labor Day.  Frank failed to check the "Closed" notices, so many things we had planned are shut up tight!

The leaves are beautiful and the people are so friendly and helpful.  They are right in the middle of moose season, but we haven't seen any yet.  We have seen precious little wildlife so far.

Hell, we have seen precious little LIFE!  But the food has been fabulous.  Lobsters, halibut, blolocal beer.   We flew in first class and had two of the best meals on Air Canada.  Airline food even!

The Celtic music fest is going on on Breton island this week. And Monday is the Canadian thanksgiving.  Everywhere we go there is turkey dinners.  Who knew the Canadians ate turkey dinners on thanksgiving too!

The lodge we where we are staying in Baddeck is so beautiful and lush. We have a bonfire tonight with local beer one the beach.  Last. Time we were here we were on Bras D'Or sailing on a sailboat past the lighthouse we see from our balcony here at the lodge.

Somehow we are finding things to do......mostly ride in the car seeing nothing but trees!

  1. Trees! Beautiful colors. Aren't you there to relax? So relax and enjoy the turkey.

  2. I visited that area about 4 or 5 years ago and loved it. The PEI ferry, all the beautiful pubs, a wonderful museum, old churches and natural beauty. One of my favorite things was seeing their ingenuity at sea life farming. Hope you continue to have a wonderful time. By the way I found the people warm and charming.

  3. I love the foliage when it's a bit cloudy. Something about the light makes it look like mother nature colored all the trees with florescent highlighters. Last last photo is like that. So glad you got to see such beautiful scenery.
