However....
There is a lot of damage to the cornea. At this point he is not sure what I will actually be able to see in the end. It will not be corrected by wearing glasses. My vision clarity is still good under the cornea.
The pits and thinning of the cornea can be smoothed somewhat by that bandage contact lens. And ultimately I could be a candidate for a corneal transplant.
Sounds scary.
Please get your shingles shots!
I thought you did get your shingles shot . . . DH has had his because his mom had them numerous times. No one in my family has (so far).
ReplyDeleteI got my shots, both ones available. Daughter and granddaughter, son's daughter, have had them. But there's nothing scarier than eye problems. Take care. I take my eye vitamins hoping to stave off the macular degeneration and the glaucoma that run in the family.
ReplyDeletewe got ours years ago because bother in law got it
ReplyDeleteI had shingles issues for 32 years and the first shot did not help. The Shingrix shot helped me. I am not saying it will help you but it has done wonders for me.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, I had no idea this could cause you so much damage! I never get the shingles shot when offered because I'm told it could cause Terry to get them AGAIN because his med cause very low immune system. He has had shingles three times now. Luckily it has been at his waist area and we have caught it almost immediately. I have had them once and hope never again. Hope this all turns out the best it can for you.

I am glad to hear that the shingles virus is gone from your eye. Sounds like there are some options for dealing with the cornea issues. For me who know what the future will hold with the scaring in my eye I have from that herpes virus I had years ago
