Porch Quilts and Pandemic Cures On The Horizon

We live in a country that amazes me.  So many different entities are able to attack the problem of this virus from unique angles.  You don’t see that coming out of the closed communist countries like China.  They are busy kicking American journalists out of country. No info gets out that way.   I hope the solution comes soon.

So on a happier note, my porch show is in Day 10 with one of the graphic quilts. It won a 2nd Place in design but that ribbon was lost in the flood somehow.

It started out as a precision quilt that I always had doubts was going to make it. I gave up at some point because I can’t sew a straight line to save my life!

I took the parts and pieces and made this one, a tribute to Jim Morrison of the Doors. The quilt is named “ Don’t You Love Her Madly?”

And today we did a test of Zoom for our Modern Guild Meeting on Monday. We got to touch base with about 20 members including Brigitte in Germany!  Of course it was 1 AM there!

Marchita has been moved to Rehab and is doing well.  Thank goodness, she is a  strong old lady!!!

Sewing at Paula's

Tonight is the night for the REME Challenge.  This is the Black and White Plus a Color Challenge. I got the binding on this one done last night while watching Dancing With the Stars.

Cynthia and I joined Paula this morning in her Quilt Haus.  I cut out the pieces for the next challenge.

The next challenge is to take a single block and change whatever you need to in it to create a secondary design.  I have the most amazing thing.  I have won at this guilt before, several times.  And this time I will slay them!  LOL

I can't show you either one right now, but tonight I will show you my Don't You Love Her Madly" quilt with the WINING RIBBON!!!!!!!

Yes!

Two Early Quilt Finishes

I finished the challenge quilt today, well I have to bind it tomorrow.  And I looked at the calendar and found out the Guild Meeting is NEXT WEEK!  So you will have to wait for one more whole week.

I also finished Flower Girl, the baby quilt for my nail salon couple.  I just did a simple meander, but  in a wild yellow green color that exactly matches the solid greens I added in.  I am happy.  It is a really cute girly quilt.  They will be surprised and elated!

I think it is the first time I have ever been EARLY for anything --- quilt wise.  I am usually early for life stuff.

I plan on going to the park and seeing if I can do a photo shoot with a couple of these quilts as I finish them.

So I will claim the Flower Girl top, backing and binding on the stash report next week.   This quilt was done with only pink fabrics and scraps from my shelves......YES!  I used lots of small pieces and the leftover stripes from a previous project.  I really had to think about those stripes, I have a very specific project in mind for my stripes.  A Kaffe Fassett quilt I fell in love with several years ago.

I started saving them, and saving them, and saving them.  Now I just save them.............sigh.

So  there will come a time soon when I will feel the need to create more tops and that will be among them!

I also want to sit down and parcel out who will be getting what quilt so I will know what I need to concentrate on to get Christmas presents taken care of.

Yes, quilt presents for all!

Sneak Peak of the BE+1 quilt

I got it partially quilted last night before The Good Wife came on.  I love that show.  She is so 'every woman' in the part she plays.  Some of the things her egotistical husband does to her, well, she is as saint. I love her.  And I love the new guy they introduced last night!

Don't You Love Her Madly will be off the frame today and I will have a binding ready for tonight.

It is my own design, all from my mind, no pattern, no copy from anyone, all mine!

I have severeal things to work on, I need some finishes!  All the work I did in Sept (and all the problems I had), need to evolve into productivity in October.

I am looking forward to an exciting meeting.  However, this is a very traditional group, so we shall see what my design says to them.
