Quilting Detour

I realized that this is May.  People.  This is MAY!

I have two graduation quilts languishing in my "to be quilted" pile.

So I pulled one out, the one for niece Mary Elizabeth who is graduating from Loyola in whatever they call Journalism these days.  Quite a bit different from when that was my major!

And this morning I quilted wavy lines all across it.

Now to square it up and bind the silly thing.

I have the other grad, Jessie.  She is finishing her MBA at my alma mater Southeastern Louisiana University.  I have one of those too!


Question, the fabrics are Asian, and there are kimonos in the center of it.  She is from Viet Nam.  That is OK, right?

I  am second guessing this now.  I will have to post a pic of it later.

Stash Report, Design Wall and Quilt Work Sunday

I lied to you this morning when I said I would work on the Zen Lady.  I did not.  I took one look at the DesignWall and got suckered into working on the Journalistic quilt Read Between the Lines for my Journalism graduating niece Mary Elizabeth.

I added the B&W vertical strips on a whim and I really love them.  Tell me if you like them or not. 

 I forgot to think about a stash report.  So let me see.


I Bought Nothing!

I used fabric for the binding for the Saints quilt, binding for the QR Codes and the backing for the Stained Glass quilt that got itself quilted this week.

And late Saturday the state of the driveway looked like this.

they had to bring in several loads of mud (dirt really, you can tell I am from New Orleans).  And the crane guys brought in this cutie.  Now I want one of these.  They took it home so didn't have a chance to see if I could get it to run.........

The cement is coming early Monday since it is expected to storm on Tuesday.  So far today I have not seen them, so I guess they will have to get here at the crack of dawn Monday to get the framing finished for the cement trucks.

We shall see.  Time and rain wait for no cement truck!

Another Trip to Belle Chasse and Some New Fabric

Yes, he left his briefcase thing in Belle Chasse yesterday.  So he needed to retrieve it.  Remember my last trip to Belle Chasse for Frank?  No way was I going to do it again.


He was supposed to b working at home today, so he suggested we head out for lunch at Middendorf's in Akers, LA between Pontchatoula and Kenner, LA on the way to Belle Chasse.  I jumped at that opportunity.

While we were there, Edwin Edwards, the ex-con Governor of Louisiana, came in.  So we had lunch with him and his grandson and a friend.  He looks amazing for being 87 years old. 

My favorite thin friend catfish, in fact, the only fish I ever eat!

Late yesterday the Grad Caps arrived.  I am going to put them on the back of the Graduation Quilt for my niece Mary Elizabeth graduating from Loyola University in the Spring.  The FQ stack is the Cirrus Solids from MassDrop.  I have the newsprint coming in today or tomorrow.







While we were driving, his odometer hit 100,000 miles.  He has a 2013 Accord! Yes, he drives that much.

New Orleans Skyline and the Superdome

The Greater New Orleans Bridge, commonly called the Twinspan. It takes you across the mighty Mississippi to the West Bank where Belle Chasse is located.

You  might remember this bridge from Katrina, where there were hundreds of people stranded on top of it.

It takes close to 2 hours to get to  Belle Chasse then another 2 back.  It took all day and I am REALLY tired of being in the car.

I would not EVER EVER EVER in a million years, want to do Frank's job!
