UnReferenced Is Complete!

Last night I remembered I had not sewn the binding for UnReferenced.  So I pulled it out and finished it up! 

So I have now counted it among the finishes for January.  It is Number 4 for 2015!

I have to tell you, no one else was around to help me.  I have asked Frank to put up some holders on the deck so I won't have to do this alone.  (read this in a whiny voice aloooooone!)


I put my camera on the deck, set it on one of the end tables facing out into the yard.  I had to prop it up on the lens cover.  And set the timer for 10 seconds.

You would have laughed to see me hop off the deck, hold up the quilt, try to remember where I had pointed the stupid camera, and stand there wondering when the photo would  snap.

The added bonus was the setting sun in the background behind the house shining through the back of the quilt.  Interesting pattern........I need to design a quilt like that!

And the sides are trimmed.  That is a moment!  Both on the same day.  I must be on a sugar high!

With all the beautiful sunshine I felt wonderful outside taking the photos of the quilt.  If you check out Sophie Junction on my side bar, you can see the beautiful sky and her Adobe Deck in Santa Fe!  I was lusting after that Adobe building earlier today!

The dogs were happy running around and scouting out the slow moving lizards waking up from their sleep during the cold week.  Well, at least McGee was hunting lizards.  Don't worry, he is rarely successful.

 Here is the top unquilted.  Remember that I took orphan blocks and pieced the back strip?  Again, unquilted.




I put it on the frame and did a meandering loop.  Nothing fancy, I didn't want to spend a lot of time just quilting, I have too many things to get quilted.  I can get fancier as we go along.

Oh.  My. Gosh.  I do so love those foxes!  (All the fabric is Moda or solids.)   There are some really fun fabrics in there.

Here is UnReferenced in some compromising positions on my deck and a few benches around the yard.

 Folded and draped and draped some more!  I love how it all comes together with the quilting.  The feel of the quilt changes, and it becomes......well, real!

I have a Remember Me Guild meeting tonight and will show it off there.  They are a very traditional group so we shall see if they clap! 

And tomorrow I can sew a white binding on the edges and do some hand work while watching TV!

I put Mr. Roomba out to do his job.  I have to pick up the dog beds because I came home yesterday and a dog bed was rolling around the bedroom, careening headlong into furniture like a drunk......well, dog bed!  It was funny.

So today I piled the dog beds on the hearth when I turned on Mr. Roomba.  That crazy McGee!  He is chewing on one of the three bones (that appear to me to be identical) but everyone only wants THAT one.

I need a great name for the bookcase quilt.  I have a great list of phrases and words that catch my fancy.  When I need a great name for a quilt I head for that list.  Sometimes just go through the list and let the words and names roll off my tongue.

One of my favorites (I am not saying it here because I am jealously guarding it for my own!) just hasn't found its quilt yet.  But I am sure it will. 

I am thinking that since the quilt is a bookshelf, and books are sometimes considered reference books (before computers that is), and we don't know what these books are exactly, I think "UnReferenced" is a great title!
