My Neighbor's Strange and Unusual Tree

This is the Duffle Bag from UFO pieces left over from a doggy quilt I use on my side of the bed.  I learned long ago I could not share a blanket with Frank if I wanted to be warm.  Not a problem now because I have 2 million quilts.  Thereabouts.

And I have finished 3 of the 4 pillow cases finished I plan on donating with the Duffle to the CAAWS Volunteer Thank You Party and Annual Membership Meeting.

I have some leftover pieces from the pillowcase fabrics that I will make into some zippy pouches.  These look like good prospects.

But let me tell you about my neighbor's strange and unusual tree.  It is a pine tree.  But when the needles fall they stand up.

Yes, they stand up.  Not just one or 10, like the MAJORITY of them.

This is Nancy's tree.  Nancy is just so cool!

This is my other neighbor Dale's tree.  Normal, boring pine needles.  I must talk to him about this.  I have higher expectations if he is to continue to live next to me...........

The Quilt I Can't Show You - Karen don't look at this post until we have lunch tomorrow

I just finished the quilt I can't show you.  I can't show you because it is my mystery quilt for this year.  But I have mine to the top stage as of now.  I love it.

I did make a mistake and need to rip out a section and turn it around.  I didn't notice that I had done it incorrectly until I had it on the design wall and was trying to design a baby quilt  around one of the corner blocks.  I realized that the two corners were not the same.

Easily corrected.

The other problem I had was not having a large enough difference in my value between my print fabric and my light.  The dark is dark!  But the Print and the Light are too close to medium, so remember to not make that problem when you get your fabrics.

You need a print first.  And take the print to pull two colors, a dark and a light.  And if you have any question shoot me a picture or bring it to a meeting and let me look.  I thought mine would be no problem and it way.  Big time.

I wish I could show you, I really do love the mystery quilt once again.

I will be meeting my cousin tomorrow to bring Matt's Saints Quilt to him along with his pillow and Karen's Siamese Kitty Duffle bag.  Remember that?

I hope to remember to take pictures tomorrow!

And it has rained steadily all day, and maybe tomorrow even.  Travel is not recommended!

Duffle Bag

Today is the Tuesday Sew In at the Red Stick.  Ann and I are working on a duffle bag for her, and I will do another with April the following Tuesday.  It is not a class, we are just doing them.

The book they come from is the Zippered Totes, excuse me it is actually Totes With Zippers by Cindy Taylor Oates.

Easy Peasy project for your fabrics, dog fabrics are perfect for this.  You first make your quilted fabric by quilting your outer and inner fabrics together.  Then you make the pockets and then the zipper goes in and the handles go on and tie everything together.

It is huge at 11x 11 x 20.5 inches and will carry my stuff on the Shop Hop in Houston.

I think everyone i know will get one from Christmas this year.  In addition to getting a quilt, everyone will get one of those as well.

Divesting, I am divesting of fabric and so many quilts!  But there are limits!

You have to qualify for a duffle and a quilt...........
