Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2016 Color For February

Last year it was pink........i was thinking she couldn't get more Valentine-y than that.  Ohhhhh, my sweets, I was so wrong!

Chocolate.

Chocolate.

Can you believe that?  So my next four February hexies will be done in Chocolate.

With pink accents.

If you look in the Big Hexagon book by Katja Marek.  Oh, my........I always do that.

I mean The NEW Hexagon book by Katja Marek!

So it you look in the book, it will be numbers 5, 6, 7 and 8.  That would be Caroline, Delores, Maureen and Marena.

And if you are wondering, there is a Linda and a Brenda but no Glenda.

Asterisk

Walmart has an asterisk!
Yesterday I cut out the white for two more asterisk blocks.  the white I am using was purchased from Mia's Quilt Shop in Walker LA, oh, about two years ago.  She had a nice sale and I bought much.

By the register there was a couple bolts of very wrinkled white fabric.  They were sitting by her front window during a bad storm and the window leaked!  She took them home, washed them and re-wrapped them on new bolt card boards.  She sold them to me for cheap!

This is the last of the whites and it is a white on white pattern that you barely see.  It is the background for the asterisks.  Since I am getting kinda close to the end of the bolt, I am  thinking that I may have to switch the coloration of the block and make the larger part the color the month and the asterisk itself using the white.

I will have to do some planning for it to lay out in a pleasing pattern.  Enter EQ!

I have not gotten much done at all.   Frank is in the middle of the second gout attack in three weeks.  When he is between attacks he takes baking soda and water daily and can avoid the crystallization accumulating in his toe.  But when he stops the drink daily, wham it hits him!

So we hit the doctor today, who gave him the same meds and the same warnings.

What set it off?  He rarely, if ever, drinks alcohol.  He is not overweight and we eat a lot of veggies over meat on a regular basis.  But on Friday, we went to the Blue's House downtown.  I ordered a beer and as an afterthought, he asked for one, too.

It had to be the thing that set off the gout again.

Poor guy, can't even have a beer once a year!  That's OK, more for me!  LOL

RSC15 at Mid Year

I am loving the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2015!

Of course my productivity does not show it, but I really have been working on the RSC15.  I have several good bases for some baby quilts with the fish and the geese that fell by the way side.  Yeah, I left them behind in the dust, literal dust.   I have an idea for the fish that will be cute.  Grouping in schools with a momma fish should use more scraps up..........that is my current plan, anyway.

Here are my foxes, I think there are 36 of the cute little guys.  They will need some spacing in the final set but I am still thinking they are fabulously cute.  They are 6 wide by 7 long so they will finish at 5.5 x 6.5.  Who knows how big the final quilt will be.

The color for July is red so I need to sit and make some red foxes.  Finally a natural fox color!  LOL

The reds should definitely brighten things up.  These are tending toward the cool side of foxy.

And this is the Asterisk.  There is a fourth one made but of course I can't find it.  So I will have to fill in the colors I am missing and do the July red.  Four more, then.

This will be a fabulous quilt!  I definitely love the idea of 12 asterisks dancing along the front of a fun quilt.

hmmm...I wonder where that errant asterisk is?

Mental Note:  make easier blocks next year for RSC16.

That is OK, when I clean stuff up looking for it, I hope to find the circle templates for the long arm I bought at QuiltCon.

I guess I am off to make foxes and a lot of asterisks!

What I Made Yesterday

I have a group that meets tonight and I needed to make a project for it.  I hate what I made.

the vision inside my head was totally different from the way it turned out.  I hate that!  My friend says, if you don't like it, keep adding to it until you do.

I did....and I still don't like it!

I got my tsukineko inks, i used the sand color.  but I have no ability to shade so it got so messed up.

I still have time to make something this afternoon, but I am bummed about it.

But on the other hand, I made purple foxes for the Rainbow Challenge.  And I love them.

Eight Purples living alone.

Purples meeting the other foxy guys!

RSC Pink Foxes and Asterisk Gumby

At the retreat I finished some foxes and another asterisk.  However I think the Asterisk is morphing into Gumby.  And just wait until GREEN is called!  LOL

rainbow Srap Challenge

I am so sorry!  I put the link in there but somehow it vanished into thin air. Google it, or better yert Pinterest it.  You will see some really great quilts.

http://superscrappy.blogspot.com/p/rsc12.html

This is the original site. Angela at SoScrappy has curated this for for years now.  And she has quite a following.  I love the quilts I have seen.

Basically, you choose your faborite block.  She calls out a color each month and you make as many as you want in that color.  Next month, another fabulous color.

Several things happen.  You use your favorite block.  You get a quilt at the end.  You use colors in  different way.  You use colors you might not use in a normal day.

Win, wn, win, win and wn!

Rainbow Scrap Challenge

I must be feeling better with this cold thing because all of a sudden I  can see 15 ways to join in with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I feel like I have too long sat on the side lines and watched others have fun and create those wonderfully smart blocks that I do so admire.

I want to be the one who creates those wonderfully smart blocks so everyone will admire me and my ability to sew down all the scraps in my quilt room in just under one year!  I want to  be that icon that everyone aspires to become.  I want to be that person who has walked where no woman (or man) has walked before, in the cluttered spaces of my overstuffed quilt room!

I spent the day looking for just the prefect quilt block that will take me through the year, in rainbow delighted-ness and will still be the perfect block in December when I am STILL working on the sparkly rainbow goodness.

I have narrowed it down to 15 block.  I think i can do 15 blocks in a month.  Ok, you may be right, I will narrow it down some more.

How about 8?  More?

Ok, Ok.  2.  No, 3.  I just have to have 3........pleeeeeeease?

A fox.  Gotta jump on the fox bandwagon.

A tree.  Love love love my modern trees.  Maybe it is more like modern chopsticks......

And a "asterich" as my co-worker from long ago would call it.  "Put a asterich there and we can go to press with."

And just to prove to Frank I have not been just laying around doing nothing all day, I pushed the button on the Roomba and vacuumed the den.
