Home Sweet Home

Sailing down the Mississippi River
We are sailors returned from the sea!

Frank Drinking?
It was a wonderful week with perfect weather and a set of friends who enjoyed the ship and the comedy.  The group that was with the band numbered 639 and they know how to party!

We get the bassets tomorrow, so tonight as Suzette suggested, I will throw fabric on the floor with abandon and take the baby gates down and run through the house with glee!

I am glad you enjoyed the videos of the sewing machines and stuff.  I wanted to leave you with something to watch.

We were on a Segway tour somewhere in the Bahamas and a lady wasn't watching where she was going.  Her wheels hit a parked car.  The battery pack shut down and down she went, dislocating her knee. The guide was very concerned whether the she would be taken to the local hospital or the ship.  He said she would get much better care on the ship, since the hospitals were public hospitals.  He said it was a poor system and anyone with insurance from their workplace went to the US for healthcare.

Turns out the lady did go to the hospital and when we checked just before sailing was still not back on the ship.  I am sure she got back in time, but we were never able to find out what happened to her.

I will have some pictures during the week for you.  It was such perfect weather.

No Stash Report!  Sorry!  While I did work on my Big Hexagon Project, I touched nothing else.........

The Drive-By Vacation

Well, I am home from our Anniversary Trip and no one broke into the house while we were gone.  Carrie came to check on the cat and couldn't get the alarm to reset.  That girl would lose her head if it weren't attached!  She had the door open while she was trying to set the alarm!  Geez, she has a house
with an alarm, you would think things would
translate, but I guess not.

While I somewhat enjoyed the time, I won't push for another trip to the

"beach".  Biloxi is nice, but even though it is the Gulf, the water is always brown as opposed to the clear blue green a bit further down in Alabama or Florida.

Here is the new travel companion, the Basset.  He replaces the Swissy who traveled with us for the years we were on vacations and missed the dogs.  The Swissy was famous within the GSMD groups for his travel photos I took along the way through so many years.  The new Basset traveled with us for the first time.  And it was sad, I missed the Swissy.

I assume the sand was nice, he wouldn't let me walk in it.  He didn't want sand in the new car.

Geez.

He only wanted to walk out on those piers, but most were locked up or destroyed in the hurricane. We finally found one and walked out to catch the sunset.  He was all antsy about leaving and not being there in the dark.  You could tell there were unsavory characters around.  NOT!

There were very few people there along the entire stretch from Pass Christian to Ocean Springs.  And we added no footprints either.

We lost a few bucks in each of the casinos, which is strange.  He hates to gamble.  I would have preferred the sand in the car over the gamblingl; neither of us are real gambling fans.  I did enjoy being at the Hard Rock Casino where I was jamming to the live band and he kept saying that if he stayed his eardrums would get damaged.....so he leaves me there at the slot machines!

We did catch a nice circus type show of aerial performers doing high wire walks, spinning wheels, trapeze acts, balancing and jumping and a really show stopper, butterflies doing high wire trapeze act far above the audience.  Way cool.

Come back on Saturday and see what I bought at the really cool quilt shop!

Memorial Day Weekend!

Take time to remember your heroes.  Without them our lives would be so much less.  I am truly thankful for the boys who go to war and to those like my own husband who serve their country even when there is no war.

We usually are by now planning a vacation to the west or northwest or far northwest (Alaska) but this year we are waiting till later in the year to head to Egypt if it is still there by then.  Cross your fingers and you will see me and Ann on a camel!  She is bound and determined to ride a camel in Egypt.  So ride a camel we shall. This camel is, believe it or not, from the Great Desert of Maine.  Yes, Maine.  A real desert with shifting sand dunes and all.
Maybe in the Spring we can go to Orlando with Carrie and Andrew.  Andrew has never been to Disney World.  Can't imagine how that escaped his parents.

I worked on some Virtual Bee blocks today and just got back from mailing them off to the United Kingdom.  That was exciting.  She wants bright and bold 9 inch blocks of made fabric.  She has an idea to make them into mice.  I can't wait to see it!

Here are my contributions to MICE!
