Gelli Plate Prints

Click on the photos to make them larger.  (Sawyer's tongue is interesting, LOL!)

If you remember Frank gave me a Gelli Plate for one of the presents during my Birthday Week Extravaganza.

When Suzi called to suggest I come play with Gelli Plates I had Sawyer and his infernal illness.

Hmmm....he doesn't look sick, does he?

But I had just pulled the plate out to play with myself.  Having no idea what to do, I improvised.

I put some red, yellow and blue acrylic paint on the plate, brayer-ed that sucker out with a vengeance and created a really nice black.

Not on purpose, mind you.  Quite by accident.

So I pulled some prints using pieces from a sheet purchased at Goodwill for a buck fifty.

I got some weird stuff, but there are a couple of really cool things.

See for yourself.  Choose which one you like best...…

A bit of yellow...…..maybe a bird or a sunrise.

This was made by putting some bubble wrap on the paint, pulling it off, laying fabric on the impressions on the plate.  Then the other side was made by putting the bubble wrap directly on the fabric.

This one is actually the back of the intended print.  must have gotten that mixed up somewhere in the photo taking process.

Now this black and

yellow can be an interesting thing  that yellow weaves through the black with some sort of purpose.

This is my favorite one.  Look at the upper right corner.  How did I make that happen?  Can I replicate it again?

It looks like an inferno maybe.  Or the mountains in California burning.

Maybe a sunrise, or the opposite a sunset.

It has a different hand to it now.  And when I ironed out the wrinkles out and touched the paint accidentally, it melted a bit.  Yep, on the iron plate.

Live and learn!
