We survived another Hurricane!

Just to let you know that we had 6 inches of rain on Thursday night which caught everyone around here by surprise.  We had no problem but there were some low areas flooded in the city, And nearby communities.

Friday Hurricane Delta rolled in the Gulf making a landfall around 4 pm in Creole LA south of Lake Charles. Luckily Delta ran into some dryer air and was downgraded from a Category 3 to a 2.  Winds came onshore at “only” 110 mph

Carrie called about 11:30 pm and said they had lost electricity a few hours before, so they headed our way.  We made room for everyone, including Sawyer and Carrie’s little dog Hugeaux.

By the time it was through mid-state, here in Baton Rouge we had some 50 mph winds and maybe 2 inches of additional rain.  Andrew found out that a tree had fallen on the power lines near the front of their subdivision. Their lights came back on about 5:30 pm today

Lake Charles was hard hit, in a place  where there was still so much work to be done; a scarcity of labor and materials in a disaster area is all too familiar to me.

We dodged another bullet, and the sad thing is, I don’t see any mention of the cities in the Path of Delta being talked about on the national news or the weather station.

I am thinking politics.

  1. I am so tired of all the politics but I am thrilled you are okay. BTW Good MorningvAmerica did ask for donations and commented about the very low contributions this year and the dire situation caused by Laura and Delta hitting Lake Charles.

  2. here in colorado, our news featured some interviews with Delta hurricane survivors last night, squished in between local fire survivors who were evacuated weeks ago and Covid19 numbers ... there is no shortage of bad news...

but i am relieved to know that you and yours are okay ... if you could send us an inch or two of rain, we could really use it

  5. I am glad to hear you made it thru another hurricane so now take a deep breath. I didn't watch the news this weekend. Mostly it was ND football, the Browns. Other wise I was outside walking or doing yardwork. Three more weeks and the worst of the election stuff will be over.

  6. You are right. I didn't hear much about these hurricanes either. Too much talk about trump and covid. Glad you weathered the storm.
