Finishes for October OPAM

As you know from the side bar on the  right, I participate in OPAM or One Project A Month.  with Kris and Peg.  You really should consider joining us next year.  Basically you just work toward one finish each month.  I am sitting at 19 right now, so I am good even though I had two months where there were no finishes.

And before you start whining about how you could never do this or have to be held to a standard, the Quilt Police are all in your head!  No one will come to your house and drag you out of bed or publicly humiliate you if you don't finish something in a month!  Witness my two months devoid of finishes.

It is just something to make you feel good about finishing.  What Peg does is to collect all the finishes and tallies them up to make it amazing that there are XXX,XXX number of finishes collectively!  An it really is amazing to see that much finishing going on just in this one little corner of the world.

2015 Finishes - Page Added

I just added a new page to the title bar on the front of the Quilts and Dogs Blog.  It has all my finishes for the year so far.  I hope to keep it updated at least quarterly if not monthly.  But if you you have a burning desire to know what I have finished so far in any given year, just go to the OPAM on the side bar.

OPAM, if you don't know, is One Project a Month.  We pledge to finish at least one project each month.  We link with Sweet Peg in Australia at the end of the month and she tallies how many projects we all complete.  So far the ENTIRE group has completed a total of:

39,276 projects.

Amazing.

I have 8 finishes so far this year and 

It really does make me think what I can complete to add to the list on my sidebar.  And when my list is short, I think about what I can finish to add to it.

I should have all five Colorado Boys quilts done this month!

My One Project a Month took off this month!

Here are my finishes for October!

21. Lorax COMPLETED commission

25. Lay of the Land COMPLETED Fiber Group
26. Amish Butterflies COMPLETED and gifted

Most of these had  only the  binding to do before they could be gifted, but I did complete the Lorax and Lay of the Land from beginning to end.  More of that in November.

I have one more commission quilt that is Seuss 2 that needs to be done by Sun day noon because the shower is Sunday at 3 pm and I would like to unveil the two quilts and the diaper bag at that fiesta.

 So I guess that will start off November with a BANG!!!!

A Finish to Report and the Week Ahead on the Design Wall Monday

KerBloom! is now finished.   I spent the last 2 hours and 40 minutes sewing the binding on.  I watched the Amazing Race and the Good Wife.  I love the Good Wife.  And nearly 3/4 the way through the Mentalist.

My standard Sunday Night Fare.

The great thing about finishing KerBloomm! is that I get to claim the quilt and the backing on both my next week's Stash Report AND my OPAM for April.  Which means I am at 14 completions for the year, and I am right on track for One Project A Month for the first quarter of 2014.  Yes!

My week's work will be to complete the quilting on the Star quilt, which needs a really dynamite   name.  I am doing ruler work which is slowing me down.  I should have done Meandering Stars and it would be done by now.  but I wanted to practice with my channel locks on the wheels.  If I would have realiz
ed that that only works on the four small corners and that all the stars require angled lines, I could have rethought the process and made a different choice.

See where I forgot to lock the rollers?  It made the quilt skew and the sewing line was skewed as well.

The other thing I wanted to get accomplished this week is to finish up Sunshine on the Water for the Fiber Group.  And I need to put the borders on the Machine Quilt and get that ready for the frame.  I already have the backing!

That will be a nice finish to report on my Stash Report as well!

OPAM Finishes in Toto

That means the total number of OPAM finishes for the Month of February.

OPAM is One Project A Month.  It is a group of people who strive to complete at least one project each month.  So minimally, you would finish 12 projects, right?  I figured I would do it and push myself to finish projects.

If you check the required sidebar on my blog you will see that I have completed 11 projects so far and have several in the wings.  Oh, and don't think this is all I  have.  I have a literal roomful of  UFOs to challenge myself with.

At the end of each month, Sweet Peg will tally up the group's finishes and select several people to be winners.  Best of all, ,she tells us how many projects we collectively finished.

Guess how much we completed in February?

We are so complete.
