A Year Ago Today

Thought you might find this interesting.

A year ago today.  Or this week, there abouts.

We were just beginning to move things into the house.

Paula and Glen helped set up the long arm in what used to be my antique filled dining room.   The long arm was moved from my house to stay at Paula's house while we rebuilt from the flood.

We were also waiting for the chairs to arrive from LaZBoy so we wouldn't have to sit in the folding chairs anymore to watch TV that was sitting on the fireplace hearth.

And this week now, the Camper From Hell was pulling out of the driveway!

Frank talked to Kenny G today in fact.  I don't know if they said anything about what we were doing a year ago.  Probably not.  It might just be my thing to know.

We had lived in it since August.  Seven months that seemed like an eternity.

The house was not near finished, but we were living in it.   We would continue to work on the house for the next 9 months.

That Is What Happens When I Do Traditional Quilts

Now I have to do another one.  Frank started hinting that he wanted this quilt, and I ignored him for 3 days.  He out and out asked for it yesterday.

But it already has a destination.

My vet cousin, well one of them, has a son who entered the Naval Academy this year.  And the mother's group is doing a raffle benefiting his cadet class.  I think for their cadet party at the end of their first year.  A "You Made It!" kinda thing.

It started out as some Card Trick blocks I won somewhere along the line.  It turned into a fun disappearing 9 patch.  Did I say Frank LOVES it?

I used up all my red reds for the Improv Stripes one, so I had to dig deep for the blue reds for this one.  I was lucky that Charlene just brought me those two boxes of fabrics!

Now that Darcy Lynn and her Amazing Puppets have won America's Got Talent and no one won the American Ninja Warrior I can get back to sewing at night again.  Whew! It was a tough season for both shows.

And just to show you how far we have come in one year, this is what was happening exactly a year ago today.

This is my kitchen, and that piece of furniture is the Victrola that was my Grandma Graci's.  My Grandma used to listen to original records of Caruso in the living room of her double shotgun house in New Orleans.   You can see the water line on it.  I had to let it go, but I hung on to it as long as

And this is what Sawyer looked like a year ago!

See his cute little butt!

A Year Ago Today...........August 10, 2016

It was a Friday.

We had just driven over to Orange Beach AL to celebrate our anniversary.  Frank had always wanted ride those jet skis things, oh, wave runners!  That's it.  So I brightly said, let's do it....

And we headed east to Orange Beach.  In the rain.

But we figured the rain would stop.  Eventually.

And eventually.....it did.

Orange Beach is nice.   I guess.  We really didn't see it.  I paid extra dollars for the room that had a balcony looking our over the Gulf.

We couldn't sit on it because of the rain.

There was a lull in the rain and we decided to check out the other end of the island.

There was a park you could walk out and sit on the rock jetty.

We kept saying to each other,  I imagine it would be a beautiful sight if the sun were ever to shine.

That night we had dinner at a BBQ joint I can't remember the name of.   I wanted to eat seafood, but he won.

Maybe if we had eaten seafood............

No, we never got to ride the wave runners.
