A Finish!!!!!

My UFO to do list grows ever longer.  I need more hours in a day.  (gee whilikers, that just auto corrected to whores........ I wonder where THAT came from?)

This finish was not even on the list for some reason!  That just means the list does not get any shorter!  In a separate piece I made the backing that will do for a small kid's quilt I made out of the backs of t shirts and some t shirt like shirts I cleared out of my closet.  It wasn't  on the list either!  Geez.

AND....I have enough for another one, just a bit larger.  And I have some SpongeBob Squarepants fabric for the back!  I am not sure how he spells his name, I always spell mine with a small g.

(No one has ever noticed that............)

AND.........I have this Kaffe fabric quilt but it is small like a baby quilt.  Carrie hated it so I think I will cut it up for a bag.  That gets it out of the closet and maybe someone will want that!

This morning I was vacuuming and totally inconvenienced my dog.  Poor guy, been there for like an hour.  For having such short legs he sure can jump up on things!

Here is that finish I was referring to:

Elephants!  Baby elephants.  This came from a kit I bought locally after I saw the fabric and fell in love.   Turns out it was in one of the quilt magazines and the shop had gotten the fabric and kitted it up in a nice ribbon-y package!  An I had to buy the magazine just to get the pattern.  It is so simple I could certainly have designed it myself, but I like magazines.

Frank watched the Super Bowl last night and I was in the back watching the 600-lb Life and doing the binding work.  I really don't like sewing bindings on, and they are kinda piling up.  If I don't sew bindings I will never have any finishes, so I needed to get motivated.  So I got motivated and bound those Elephants.

They are from, like, 4 years ago.

I love love love the quilting I did, I am soooooo good at Elephants!!!!!!

It is a panto from Urban Elementz.

Baby Elephants and Another Good Book

Baby Elephants are quilted.  This UFO is about 4 years old and finished!  Well, the quilting is finished, there is that trimming and binding thing with a broken arm going on.

This makes 6 UFOs quilted so far.

I have a great panto in the shape of elephants I have wanted to use for a long time.  This quilt with elephants on it was the perfect thing.

Don't you just love these guys?

I do pantographs a bit differently.  My frame lives in the dining room with limited space.  I talked to several people at the Houston Quilt Show when I bought my Avante.  The solution was a Quilt Cam.  The screen sits on top of the handlebars and shows a projected picture of the panto on the shelf.

It works just fine!  But if you have motion sickness, I would suggest trying it out before you buy one.  It makes Frank sick to look at it.

When I was starting a new row, I sewed my machine to the quilt!  It is difficult to free the foot from its predicament.  I do this from time to time just for fun and entertainment.

I listened to two books in the last couple of days while working on my quilts.  I had heard an interview with Richard Ford about his book Let Me  Be Frank With You on NPR ab out a month ago.  It sounded much better than it was.  In fact, I kept thinking, is this the same book?  The best part of this book was the photo on the front!

The Orphan Train was a lot better.  It was one of those book I didn't want to end.  There could be a sequel, I need to check.  It sort of ended in the middle of her life so there could be.

Definitely a good quilting read!

Two More Backs Created

I confirmed that my arm is not quite ready to use a rotary cutter just yet!  Quite painful, in fact.

So I had to cut the yardage by using scissors.  Like in the old days.

I was able to find the material I bought for the back of the Mystery Houses and sew it together.   If you make the photo larger by clicking on it, you can see the fabric line with houses on it.  that is the backing.

This quilt is HUGE at 98 x 98.  It is like the one that is on my bed  I
made for the mystery.  It has Aboriginal fabric and I quilted it with kangaroos.  It won 3rd place in that challenge.  But......do you see the lower section?   The quilt is constructed in 9 sections like a nine patch block.  And I switched the two on the bottom!

I only noticed it when I took this photo at home after the meeting!

Here is the Baby Elephants Quilt.

I made this one 3 or 4 years ago.  It was a patter in one of the magazines.   I liked it.  But when I saw the fabric in a kit at the quilt store, I LOVED it!

I  need to get into the corner of my Quilt Room, but I think that these 7 quilts will have cleared out a box!  I am in shock!
