Fox Blox

Do you remember last year?  I barely do.  That flood thing really messed me up.  It literally stole a whole year from my life.

Last January 2016 I joined the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and chose two blocks to  work on.  One was an Asterisk and the other was Foxes.  I worked on both diligently, well, every month for the most part,  OK a lot, alright?

Somehow the box that held the Fox Blox survived the flood, the  move to Charlene's house, and then the trip back to Baton Rouge.

I used to take them out each month and set them up on the design wall to see how the various colors were fitting in with the others.  They always needed to play well with the other blocks.

I decided to pull out the Fox Blox and reacquaint myself with what I had.

If I needed to fill in, I was prepared to do some piecing.

Once I got everything on the design wall, I decided it was large enough and started putting them together.

I got to this point and decided to call it a night.  i will finish this to the top stage tomorrow.  And have another UFO another step closer to a finish!

I had these guys leftover so they will go into the backing.

Oh, and I already have the fox backing!

And I am linking up with Small Quilts for the Monday Design Wall Post.

Oil Derrick Grows Toward the Sky

This is the second post today, so if you missed the first one, go back to it.

But I was too excited to wait to post tomorrow.  And I have a guild meeting tonight  so I won't get to work on it more until tomorrow.

Check it out!

(Please notice the hamburger buns in the box of scraps. I am working on my kitchen counter.)

Baby Steps

What a great name for this quilt!  I put it together this morning while it rained outside.  it is about 42 x 48, just the perfect size for baby steps!

On Sunday, we had lunch in Hammond with the family of Maylee and delivered her the quilt and the little doll quilt.  Her eyes got huge when she saw the tiny quilt!  It was so funny watching her.  I think it ended up with ketchup all over it because she wouldn't let go of it all during dinner!

The accord drove beautifully and got 37.8 miles per gallon, and that car is loaded with all kinds of stuff.  Technology is really improving.  He works in the oil and gas field and it was a bit distressing to see that, but on the other hand he was totally amazed by the staggering figures!  I think he loves that car.

Frank spent the morning with the two "little girls" who work at the dealership and assist old people with setting up their phone and iPod and XM stuff in the new cars.

He called me and said he needed the Really Really Remedial Course and they told him he could come back as many times as he needed to.

We shall see what balance his male ego has with his eye for young cute blondes who giggle and help him.  Hmm......maybe I should have gone with him!

But then again, I think having lunch Sunday with Maylee's dad (who is his age) will keep him on the straight and narrow!  LOL.   Yep!

Want to use up two UFO orphan blocks?

Look what I found!  I will see what else she has to show us!

Mini Iron Bag Tutorial

Try this cute mini iron bag project.  It uses up two 8 x 8 blocks that would just sit in your sewing room and take up room.  Or if you are like me, they would just sneer at you and say:

You never finished us........you are so bad!  Can't you hear them?????

But if you do something with them, they can't talk behind your back!

glen:  I just happen to have a few of these babies sitting on my design wall at this very moment, I found a box I apparently have not opened for many years!

QAYG Blocks done today

That's 28 so far!
I am constantly amazed at how different these quilts look in photographs and on the design wall.

I want to do a solid sashing since there are so many fabrics going on here.  I would have decided already but you know me, I don't make decisions easily.

I am really liking these babies.  And they are pretty fast, this is about 2 1/2 hours worth of work.  And I think I have 92 of the blocks.  Approximately.  So in the next few days I need to make a decision.

I was thinking this was a charity quilt, but maybe not.

A friend fell from a 10 foot ladder and banged himself up pretty badly and I am thinking he might need some quilt comfort.

Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Volume 3

I have been asked by Quiltmaker to be part of their Volume 3.  I will be sending blocks to them over the next year as part of their next book.  I have an editor and everything!

It is exciting and, while not a real important thing in the scope of life, it is a great honorfor me to be asked to be part of the book.

But, unfortunately, I won't be able to show you what I am working on.  However, you can say you knew me when......
