If I Were That Crawfish, I Wouldn't Be Smiling!

We went to Office Depot to buy printer ink and ended up coming home with this 3 pack of Puffs.

I took it out of the bag on the way home and realized that each small creature was paired with its mortal enemy.  I am pretty sure that shark (with a big toothy grin) does not have the best intention for the crawfish he is waving around.  And the walrus is not really the best friend that penguin could have chosen.

It was later that day we found the snapping turtle on the patio.  Luckily he was small.  But they are not really creatures you want to befriend either.  All Chloe wanted to do do was pick him up and take him somewhere so I was fighting her off.  The boys were afraid of him, and rightly so, they would not have won.   Frank put him in the back over the fence.  Hopefully the next time he wants to head this way he will be too big to fit under the fence.

While at the Quilt Haus yesterday, I finished up the red pieces for the Devil's Lense quilt.  I need to put black internal sashing on the 3 bottom ones and one on the row above.  Then the rest will be sashed in another black fabric.  It will all end up with a black 3 inch border.

Today, I needed to do something for my Fiber Group tonight, so I put together an idea I have been running around in my mind since the killing of three of our police officers.  It took several tries to get the hat right.  And then I had problems finding a suitable background.

When I looked at the pieces with the hat on the background, I realized it needed a cityscape.

So this is the piece pre-quilting.  I was worried that the dark blue would not show up  against the black city buildings.

I love it.

Mary Elizabeth's Graduation Quilt, Devils Lense and the Driveway

Quilts are moving up the list in the sidebar!

Read Between The Lines now has a back and is in the To Be Quilted Pile.  I put the back together today at the Quilt Haus.

And I put together 7 more quarters for the Devil's Lense blocks.  I needed 4 more blocks to complete the center.  So now I need 9 more quarters.  they go pretty quickly because I have all the strip sets done and ready to go.

Stuff is moving on up!

Still no rain from the deluge that has been over dramatized for the last 24 hours!  i am sure we will get it when I need to leave for my meeting tonight though.

I guess I have taken my carport and driveway for granted for the last 31 years.  I miss being able to walk out my back door and get in my car!

Here is the way things look at the moment.  It really looks great, they did a fabulous job.

And the leaves made an artistic impression in the cement!

When it dries all the way I need to take some fabric out there and do some prints!

Quilt Haus Accomplishments - The Devil's Lense

Basset Bath!  Yesterday the bassets all got carted off to the vet where they spent the day at the Doggy Spa.  They were treated to a nice bath, some fancy soaping and a deep pedicure.  They came home smelling so nice and NOTHING!  LOL

Whereupon they immediately went out and rolled in something, en masse.

I had a chance to go to the Quilt Haus again and work on some "getting stuff done" stuff.

I got some small, but important, things done.

Like:

1.   the backing of Reflections is now sewn and ready to be put on the frame.

2.  four sets of four strip sets (now that is confusing) were created to finish the blocks for Devil's Lense.

3.  1 1/2 inch strips were cut from black and white to see if it might fill in the spots in the Read Between the Lines Quilt (RBTL)

I actually can get some more work done on the RBTL Quilt, maybe, this afternoon.

Do you remember what The Devil's Lense looks like?  It has been quilt a while since I have worked on it.

I started it in 2012 and worked on it at a retreat in 2013.

Here I was trying out sashing strips.  Ultimately I decided on the black.  So I now have 8 squares consisting of 4 red strip triangles sashed in a 1 1/2 inch black.

Today I got the strip sets made for the remaining 4 blocks.  I am paper pieceing it on to the square.

After that I will sash them all with a black strip and attach a black inner border to the top.  I  have enough black to run an outer border, or maybe I need to dive into my stash and find a compatible red.  Or maybe just a white.

We shall see.  But at least I have another step done!

Thursday Qulting

I am working on The Devil's Lense today again.  I made the decision to create more block.  Originally it was to be a baby quilt.  The more I looked at it the more I liked it and thought it needed some open spaces to quilt all that modern stuff into.

I have Angela Walters' book, oh, look, it is NOT Angela Walters but Bethhany Pease.  I lied to Carol!

The book shows how doodles can become quilting motifs.

Now I just need the courage to get in there and doodle with the Avante!

You will have to tilt your head, this is one of those that simply refuse to be righted.  But isnt it cool?

New Project Working - Design Wall Monday

I couldn't stand it any more.  I had to start a new project quilt.  This time I am planning to work it all the way to the quilting.

But then you have heard the Old Scilian Saying:

The best laid schemes o' mice an  men
Gang aft a-gley

Or translated from Robert Burns speak

Best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

So we shall see.

The Devil's Lense is what I will call it.  And can you see what it will be?  Bet you can't!
