Moving On Up - Quiltwise

I actually got a lot done in a very short amount of time at the Quilt Haus today.

1.  Binding sewn on Locked and Loaded

2.  Binding sewn on the T-Shirt Backs

3.  Binding sewn on Angle Play Stars

4.  Stained Glass trimmed and ready for binding

When I got  home I was able to get the Reflections Quilt quilted.  I didn't know what to do with it.  Reflections sat on my frame for a week while I fruitlessly pondered.

You can see it is very stormy here at the present moment.  Little rain but lots of threatening!

And I am not really really happy with what I did, my back was killing me and I just wanted to get it done.  I guess I really should not be quilting when that happens!

Anyway, the quilting is finished and ready for binding.

I have like 2 years of binding to do.........I  need to learn how to bind on the machine.

Whew! Penguins Coming Soon!

I have some really great penguin photos for you. (They call them penguinos!) I am still sorting and organizing the photos from the trip, so bear with me.  And keep coming back for more ports of call!

Holidays are coming on fast and furious.  It  felt too early to do holiday stuff before we left, now it feels too late.  I did meet with my Best Cousin Karen yesterday for some wonderful Cousin-Time.  I gifted her with the Spool Quilt!  She will love the color, she has black kitties!

Yesterday I got the Locked and Loaded Quilt quilted.  Just a meander, but it looks nice with that.  I have some baby t-shirt quilts from the backs of the t-shirts I sent to Patty the Quilt Lady in Ohio, and they will look good with the same meandering treatment.

I had a dentist appointment this morning, clean bill of teeth!

Then I went to Home Depot to search for one of those space blankets to put under McGee's crate when he has sit in it.  Not that he is ever punished, mind you, but he does have to stay in a crate when I leave the house.  He tends to eat stuff, you know.

And because he eats beds, he is sentenced to  not being able to have a crate pad.  Like the good dog DiNozzo does, all comfy and cozy and warm.

The crates sit on tile, which keeps the cold.  And I felt sorry for him.

I ended up with some thermal flooring underlayment.  It is silver like the space blankets and designed to cushion the laminate and keep the heat and cold from coming through.  Perfect.

That is all I can do for him.

Tomorrow, breakfast at Coffee Call and some Farmer's Market.

Something New on the Frame

I am hoping to put another quilt on the frame today.  That is if I can herd cats in the form of getting Frank to help.

Although..............Carrie is coming over to go to the Farmer's Market with me.  I can rope her into helping me!  She owes me for all those years of loving and nurturing her when she was little.  Not to mention the 12 hours of labor.

Twisted Halloween
Waiting in the wings for quilting:

The Houses Mystery and Enchanted Stars are in the queue as well, neither of which I can find photos for.

I will let you know which one wins the Quilting Lottery.

Locked and Loaded is a Top Complete!

I think it had more impact without the border, but it used up more fabric with the border.

So now it goes into a stack to receive a back.  At which point it goes into a stack to be quilted.

I will leave you with a photo I took on one of the bike rides.  Abandoned equipment at one of the yards along the levee.

They look like old freinds just sitting and talking.

A Finish

Well,  a top anyway.  Locked and Loaded is a top.   but I think it needs to be a bit larger.  So I ;was going to make more block.

Then I got the great idea to make a series of 3 borders, white. 2 1/2 inch squares and white again.

So I made these:

To the sides of this:

To hopefully look like this:

New Quilt Has a Name

Locked and Loaded.

I  love how that trips off the tongue, must have something to do with the two Ls that start the words.  Meaning aside, it is fun to say.

I like the way the two blocks play off each other.  One a plus the other a dot.

One is locked up and small, the other is loaded like a baked potato!

There are other connotations of the name, Sean notwithstanding.  You have your politics, I have mine!

I will have some time to work on it this afternoon, the dogs all got their toes trimmed and they are sleeping it off.  Frank is zzing out on the sofa, snoring away talking to himself.  I guess he is fighting off evil villains since he dreams he is a superhero and ends up kicking or fighting me at night.  Yes it is even interesting at night around here!
