2018 Kaleidascope of Quilts
Click here to see the 2018 Quilts that are hung in the Jones Creek Library.
I encourage you to check out the quilts yourself, as it is impressive to see a quilt hung in an open and airy venue.
The venue is always improved!

Kaleidascope of Quilts Show 2018
Frank got up early and headed down to New Orleans to a funeral with Tami. I stayed with the dogs and I had the quilt hanging this morning.
Jim Chandler was one of the first mentors I was privileged to work with in Toastmasters International. I worked with the organization for 22 years. I can honestly say, the day I joined Toastmasters was the day my life changed. It was the first time anyone had ever given me their full attention when I spoke. even though I only spoke for a minute, I had never had someone do nothing but listen to me.
So he and Tami headed to New Orleans to pay their respects. I helped hang quilts.
Don't you love seeing quilt hanging? It just makes ordinary quilts look spectacular. Not that I am saying these quilts are ordinary by any stretch, but hanging makes them better no matter what.
Here are some photos from the day.

And you can see my Daily Bird quilt being hung behind the circulation desk up in the front of the library!
The library had the mechanical lift available this year for the first time in 8 years. Boy did it make hanging the quilts easier! Took half the time!
Keep looking!

Not my elephants! This one was done by Birdie.

I keep getting signs that look like llama quilts telling me to make my llama quilts.
That is Frank helping to hang the photos of the women service members. We have quite a large number of women service members in our quilds. This Sassi Stripper Guild is big into doing Quilts of Valor for the local VA Home and the various vets nearby.
Proud to serve!

Kaleidascope of Quilts Quilt Show 2016
Finally had a chance to get to the library for the quilt show this year. The quilts will hang all of August 2016. The Guild Demo Day is Saturday, Aug 20, 2016. Go and vote for my quilts as Viewers Choice! LOL
Here are some highlights:
don't you love her madly - I won 2nd place with this at a guild challenge
I think Frank was enamoured with that blue one there, Bloom.
Minions!
Here's The Neighborhood - doesn't look like swastikas anymore
Patriots Corner
Wearable quilts! And I like that colorful one.
Here' s my collection of small quilts and that is the Kimono quilt I just finished. the welcome one and the little red with some writing on it are not mine, but the rest of them are.

Working Toward the Quilt Show
For some reason, it did not register with my mind (I could be getting senile) that I needed to have all the quilts ready for today.
So I have spent two days putting on hanging sleeves, and today I finished another one's binding.
I have one more to bind and then I can take the pieces to Pam this weekend for the Show.
Every August, Sassi Strippers Quilt Guild puts on the Kaleidoscope of Quilts showcasing the member's quilts from that year.
This is the group we started at the quilt shop my friend used to own. I was a charter member and President for three years. One day I was talking to Becky and I told her about the show Alex Anderson had put on in a plant nursery. It was an amazing setting. We talked about doing a show.
Two days later, Becky called me and said, I found us a place!
We have hung quilts in the Jones Creek Library every August since then. I think this is 5 years, but it may be 4. That first year, we invented every step. Every year after that, we improved it.
The library is transformed each time the quilts enter the building!
I am so excited to be hanging quilts at the library again this year. There is always the most amazing quilts.
Such work we do as quilters.
Do you like to see your quilts on display? Or are you like one of my good friends who hates to see her work in the public. She feels like everyone is judging her. I know her work is so beautiful, careful and very worthy of being seen by everyone.
I say -- Show it! Flaunt it!

A New Quilting Focus
I mentioned the Kaleidoscope Quilt Show is coming up and I chose some new work to display to the world.
Of course, they all need a hanging sleeve, and three need binding. I have some smaller pieces from my Fiber group that I can show, which will solve any time crunch problems I might have. See, I am already anticipating problems!
Two years ago, I won Viewer's Choice with my Ellies in this show. I am not expecting a repeat performance though. Nothing is as WOW as that was. I think it may have been my life's WOW!!
In addition to that, I think I may have decided on the pattern for the Modern Guild Challenge that will be displayed at the Baton Rouge Gallery. It has been hard. I really don't like the fabric that the challenge centers on. I don't think it is Modern.
I need to take a photo for you to decide, since I can't find the one I had already in here. The show is at the end of Oct/early Nov.
I went to Office Depot to get the necessary copies made for the paperpiecing. This quilt will be interesting to put together, I have never used this technique before. But, I am all up for new stuff.
So what do you think? It is very beige-y and leafy.
I also need to chose 5 modern pieces to send to the Jury Committee for consideration. But I have some time to finish some things that are in wings. Like the Albers Project. I really need to come up with a better name for that poor quilt top.
Sigh........I am already missing Dino........He was like my best friend.
Carol of Quilted Fabric Art (go check out her osprey and cardinal) sent me a picture she created of a fish skeleton that says: Serial Fish Killer!
About a third of my post disappeared into thin air. And it was inspiring. So I am sorry I can't reconstruct it!
Off to walk the dogs........I took an allergy pill a bit ago, and it is making me sleepy. (Which is probably what happened to my missing post stuff!)
