Colorodo Boys and Their Quilts

I was so excited to open my emails today and see the smiling faces of the boys with their quilts!

I always have told Jason's mom how grateful I have always been to be included in their lives.  Not all ex-wives would do that.  Jason's dad and I were always close growing up, and it was special gift to be in Jason's life even after they split up.

I told Jason that I wanted he and Carrie to have so much love; but I wished them a LOT of luck and
patience with FIVE boys!  LOL

Stash Report 2-15-15 RED!!!!!

A quick report.  Busy I may be sporadic in my posting.  Just be prepared to miss me a bit!

FINALLY in the red.  Red is where you want to be.   It may not last long so drink it in while it lasts!

To get there I counted the Octopus quilt and the back and binding.  The Seuss 3 quilt and the back and the binding.  AND the Rainbow top but not the back or binding.

Next time I hopefully will be able to count the binding and backing on the Rainbow quilt for the boys.  And only 3 or 4 to go.

Seuss is Quilted

So there, traditional quilters, it all worked out ....flat even!

Seuss 3 is quilted.  And not one ruler was used.

Well, when I trimmed the edges to sew the two strips on the edges I used a long ruler as a straight edge.  But not for measuring.

I think it is about 52 or 53 square.  I am thinking the remaining strips will be the binding.

I like it.  I think a boy will like it as well!

NOTE:  darn....I should have shown you the back!  I will post a pic when I get home.

Traditional People Cover Your Eyes!

I have been working on the quilts for the wedding that was supposed to be in July.  It was suddenly moved up to be in April.  That kills a lot of a couple of months I had to work on them.  I just have to get better organized.  And free piece!  And do straight line quilting.

I worked on one of the younger boys; pieces yesterday and today.  I have wanted for a while to do a large square and then cut it up.  I had all the large squares on the design wall and liked the way they looked.  You never know how they will look once they are cut up though.  It was a decision, for sure.

I decided to cut them up.

Here they are in all their randomness.  I still needed to make 4 more partial blocks when I took this photo.

It made the quilt look older some how, not so laid out maybe.  The two youngest are each 6 and they should like this one.

It was freeing to just cut slices of fabric, sew randomly together not worrying about seams or matching or patterns or sizes or if it was straight.

Yay Modern!

Here is where it sits at the moment.

I have a CAAWS meeting tonight and will work on the back tomorrow.  It is about 50 by 50 give or take.

And fairly square.

Traditional people are freaking out about now!  LOL
