This is a new project.  I figured if I am finishing up two quilts this month I can add at least one more to the pile.  Right?

This is the grandmother's house  in Little Red Riding Hood.  I need to go copy some additional tree blocks today, I need 6 of them.  I only copied 3 for some reason. 

And then there is Red and the Wolf blocks.  Been wanting to do this one for a while. 

Merry Christmas Day

Hope your Christmas was happy and good.  And that Papa Noel brought you lots of fabric and needles.

As with our family tradition, Frank and I opened our presents on Christmas Eve night. He got a CD player (cause he broke his 300 disk CD changer) and I got a certificate for an extensive detailing of my CRV.  He told me I could get new one, but this one is 12 years old and has only 45,000 miles on it.  It has never had a problem so there really is nothing wrong with it.  It just needs to be "hosed" out!  LOL

Presents everywhere!

We went to Carrie's for lunch with Andrew's family.  His parents, Fayne and Bobby shared the day, along with Andrew's brother and fiancee and her three very well behaved kids.  3, 10, 14.   I got them all books and the 10 year old was already reading it when we stopped for dessert!  The 14 year old played chess with Frank.  Frank used to play with my dad.  My dad was Chess Champion of New Orleans for a number of years and would love to beat any comers!  He used to set up situations for me, drilling me on how to best some famous moves.  I hated it.  But when I married Frank, he took over the drills and loved it!  I think that is why my dad liked him so much!

I gave Jaime and Fayne their quilts and they were both very happy.  Fayne LOVED the cats!  

Paula and Glen came over to the house after we got home.  It is so good to see her up and walking and out and about after her knee surgery.  It is  almost 3 weeks and she is nearly there!  Well, relatively speaking!  LOL

I hope your day was filled with family and friends and food!

Birthday revelry at my friend's brewery.  A local place where they make the nicest beer!

Carrie brought 67 balloons, stuffed in the back of Frank's van.  Afterward the party she released them into the air.  After spending all that money on balloons, I would have brought them home to die in my living room!




 Why the wall says North, I have no idea.  Although it is correct, that is north.

Pre-Blog Quilts

I love seeing things people have done in the past.  I think I will be quite full of myself this morning and post some of the quilts I made before I started blogging about it all.

How's this for a South Seas Adventure?  I made it right before we left on a cruise to Belize, Curacao, Costa Rico.  The trip was not nearly as sunny and blue as the quilt is! 

 

The parrots were too perfect for the back of this one.  It was designed on my EQ6 software.   I wanted a lot of open spaces and I wanted something linear.  I had seen a quilt made of tiny 9 patch squares set in black and loved the look, but hated the tiny squares!  So I made mine 12.5 inches.  It is on point of course to make it straight (as odd as that sounds).  And it was the very first quilt I quilted on my longarm! 

This was the first quilt I made for Andrew.  We had just met him and he was a breath of fresh air after the Boyfriend From Hell.  We were so glad to have a nice, stable boy in her life that when I saw this quilt in one of the magazines, I KNEW it was for him!  I called it Welcome to the Loony Bin!

I did this in 2005 and it was fun to work one.  It gives you the idea that there are curves in the quilt but it is actually appliqued on top of the block backing. And of course the loons are put on there with fusible stuff also.  It is a lap quilt.  After I gave it to Andrew, Carrie informs me that I am not to make anymore "small" quilts.  She only wants to receive BIG quilts.  And then only if I use the right block and the correct fabric.  Needless to say, it was a while before she got another quilt.
