Rainy Day Sewing

The  Block Lotto is back in full swing.  If you played with them before you might want to head over and see what is happening now.  There are guest Lotto Masters who guide the months rather than Sophie doing all the work.  New and fresh.

So this month is using up some orphan blocks and scraps.  I was going to do more, but I ended up with 5 blocks.  The orphans need to be 3 1/2 unfinished and my orphans are all larger blocks.  So I used up these 5 for the pot.

Not particularly  my cup of tea but I will offer them up as donation blocks for the kitty.

I spent the afternoon clearing up some of the clutter I created on my sewing table.  Boy, is it a mess!

One of the things was the back that needed to be sewn for the Daily Bird. Basically what I do is just hang up the quilt top and cover it with the backing material.

Then I fill in the gaps!

I generally add a white or ecru square for the label information.  I like that better than sewing on labels at the end.    See the birds through the label?

You can see my One Road Through Town piece that will be in at least one show this spring.  Maybe two.  I will have to see what it gets juried into.

I got another tree block done tonight.  Nothing on TV,  so I just sewed.  The block is next to Red.

I will even them out when they are all done.

Here is the whole layout so far.  The long piece on the right will be the border.  I will start laying out the words soon.

AND.......you will be pleased to know.  I think I have my next quilt chosen.  My friend Bertha in California sent me the templates for the one she did.  I will have to ask her if I can post it.  It is amazing.  More on that later though.

I had the book it came from, but of course it flooded.

And I need to quilt a few things before I get too far ahead on the tops........not that
I am not far enough behind in everything, but you know what I mean........

STARS!

This is what I did today at the new sewing guild group.  We were short a few people, like Paula and Charlene. Next week they will be with us though, I am sure!

I completed my blocks for the Block Lotto.  I had 4 done and needed 5 more, so I cut out 5 sets.  Well, it turned out that I now had TEN blocks. Silly me.

But I am going to take a page from Patty the Quilt Lady's blog and make a really cute baby quilt with my 5.  I am thinking to make either one more or two more, well, I would have to make two more because I need a positive and a negative which is two pieces of material and thusly two blocks.

I would then have 7 blocks for a 2-3-2 arrangement.  Cute.

Trouble in Yogurtville

Alas, my yogurt maker has taken a vacation.  It no longer heats.  Hmmm.  Not such a good deal, right?

I have done two things.

1.  Contacted Waring Pro for a replacement, and
2.  Purchased yogurt from Wal-mart.

I needed cat food and dog yogurt so I bought some for myself.  It was just a natural progression.

I did nothing today, well, worked on CAAWS stuff.  We had a board meeting tonight.

I did make 4 stars for the Block Lotto.  I still have not won that stupid Block Lotto, and I have made 9 blocks each time.  9 is the maximum.  I really wanted some of those blocks too.  These are Slash Stars where you just take a huge block and start slashing in the shape of a star and sew it back together.  Like Buggy Barn blocks.  If you are a precise piecer you go crazy.  but if you are like me, it is right up your alley.  I want to do 5 more tomorrow.

I am thinking of starting a charity lotto, where I make up patterns and everyone send me their blocks they make.  LOL.  That would be fun.......for me at least!

Blocks for the Block Lotto

March's Block Lotto is the lowly half square triangle unit.  Nine of them to be precise.  If this looks like 5 2/3 blocks, it is.  I have no more WOW.

But as luck would have it, there is a new Jo-Ann's that opened up this weekend and I am pretty darn sure they have some there I can have.

And all 6 of the Bargello Plaids are ironed and ready to be bargelloed.....maybe tomorrow.

Paula - eat your heart out!

Something must have worked........

The PT people called me late yesterday and set up an appt for my physical therapy.

Not sure why we couldn't have done it on the phone yesterday...........or is that looking a gift horse in the mouth?

I got some straightening done yesterday afternoon, then made some paperpieced tiny blocks for a round robin swap I am doing.  I can't show you that, is it Top Secret!  Then went to a meeting a Direct Buy.

I also had the discussion with the nursing home about my mom.  She got the cast off, and is now attempting to get out of the bed.  They cannot restrain her much more than they do now, so I guess she will be back at the emergency room soon.  Sigh.

Today, maybe get some sewing in, the round robin finished, and then some blocks for my Block Lotto Swap.  I didn't win last month so maybe THIS month?  I love the blocks this month, hint hint hint.........

Blocks for Block Lotto

Here are my Feb blocks for Block Lotto.  I may make more, but this is the start.

Hmmmm.  Let's try that again.

Still not right.  One more time.

FINALLY!
