The Modern Robin Reveal

We each put in a center square that started the whole thing off.

Then the box was passed to someone who put a round on

Then another who put another round on.

And another who added another round.

Then it went to someone who quilted it, embellished it and bound it.

These are the amazing results.

I am in a number of them since we worked on four and owned one to make 5.  The person holding it, is the owner and started the original block. 

 I did the most outside grey and green round.














I did the castle looking round on this one.  Love the way it turned out.  It was difficult to thing of what to do with it!

 

Stephanie's stayed small, and the back was a print of Paris 

This one had its origina block chopped up as well.  Miss Thelma didn't even recognize her piece!

this one was musical! 

I started the piece by cutting up her block and separating the quarters to their own spaces.

This was the one I finished, I made it into a pillow.  I think Joni was happy?

This was mine.  I also sent an exact copy to the Cotton Robin and came up with the one directly below this from that worldly round.


So Different.  But both amazingly wonderful!

I worked at the Quilt Haus this morning and finished up the round on the Cotton Robin.

It is an amazing piece that the owner will totally LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Yes, it is THAT amazing!

My friend Paula wanted it so badly!  I so wish I could show it to you.........you would love love love it too!

The squirrel, for whom a friend suggested the name "Spoutnik", seems to have recovered his sanity enough to go find his momma and their nest.

Life is good and a cruise if forthcoming!  Six friends, all ready to party down! 

One is working as a comedian on the ship, so it should be interesting!

ModernRobin Reveal

On Monday our Modern group met and we had the Big Modern Reveal.  And it was fabulous!

For this we put a block in a box and threw caution to the wind!  We chose a box each month for 4 months, 3 months we added pieces and parts.  In the last month we finished it off with embellishments and quilting.

Here are the teams and their results. The teams that have 4 are missing Barbara.  She was recuperating from knee surgery - been there, done that, for sure!

Renee -  I did one of the orange and yellow blazes.  Barbara  worked on this one. 

 Joni - I finished this one up.  Barbara was part of this one as well.









Jo - Barbara worked on this one as well!  Go Barbara!








This one was Barbara's original block.  I worked on this one.










Alice - I worked on this beauty as well.

Two Reveals For Your Viewing Pleasure

My Modern Quilt Guild appropriately named Not Your Momma's Modern Quilt Guild, met tonight for a reveal of the Modern Robin quilts.

There were 9 participants and 9 showed back up, a good solid 100% means no one reneged on their obligation.  And everyone loved each one more and more as they were revealed.

I didn't take photos of all of them but they will be posed at some point so I will get the site and let you see them when Kelly puts them all up.

And my Michael Miller Challenge, which I thought was a secret and is not a secret for some reason. 

here is my Modern Robin which was worked on by Joni, Jo (her momma) Janet and Renee.  All enhanced my center block beyond any of my wildest thoughts!  It turned out to be amazing!

If you look closely you can see my original block with the feet.  this is so fabulous.

I have to fill my day tomorrow with something other than thoughts of my untimely death on the surgical table and Dr. Gorgeous weeping uncontrollably over my body....yelling "but she had such gorgeous knees!"

Several Sort Of Finishes

Just what did I get done on that list from this morning?  Well, actually less than the list but more than I thought I would.  How's that for an answer!  Oh, and Carol, I would have gotten mmore done had I not had to wait in line for multiple people to get their fabric cut.  It is tough having to spend more time than I wanted to in a quilt shop......full of fabric........with sales going on........and people who know me.............but I digress.

Ohhhh!  It looks like they have found that  plane in the Indian Ocean.  I am so glad for those people.  I hope it is.  I can't imagine the implications if it is not in that ocean.  

I picked  up another Modern Robin Box from the Modern guild Meeting last night.  When I got home I took it out of the box and immediately knew exactly what needed to be done!

I got out the booklet that PattyA sent me from the class she teaches on Improvisational Piecing.  I told her she needs to send it off to a publisher!  It is good!  I easily made the next round on my piece.

Here is what it looks like.

HA HA!

It looks real African in style.  Maybe it will get some giraffes in the next incarnation!  I don't think the owner of the center block thought it would go this way.  That is what makes this so much fun.

What else did I get done?

I called J & B Quilt Shop in Lafayette and ordered two more yards of the green I need for my Tea Towel Quilt.  So glad that is working out I was not sure I was going to be able to get the right color.   Now I can work on it again.

I got to the Red Stick Quilt Shop and found they were having a sale.  Oh, no!  I got my KerBloom! trimmed up and promised I would come back after lunch and bring more customers!

Ann and I had a nice lunch and hurried over to the shop to buy some sale stuff.  I got 6 yards of Moda  black!  Boy did I need that.  And 4 more yards of the sale fabric, which is still in my car and I will show you tomorrow.  I already added that to my Stash Report and with the KerBloom! finish soon it will more than balance it out.

I got the binding for KerBloom! sewed together and sewed on the quilt.  Now I can take some time to hand stitch the binding down and call it an official finish!

So this is what that list looks like:


1.  Trim KerBloom! (most likely at the Quilt Shop) which requires a road trip!
2.  Put  borders on Machine
3.  Load another quilt on the frame and begin quilting, most likely Star (need flashy name)
4.  Work on Sunshine on Water for Fiber Group
5.  Finish binding on Buggy Barn Dogs
6.  Get more green grey for Tea Towel
7.  Look at Chicken Dance to see what it needs next.  Poor thing!
 8.  Work on  Modern Robin!

I added #8 just so I could cross it off!
