I am so sorry to see my Blog Hop Week end!  I have never felt more important than I have this week.  And I know all that fabric and dog bone bribes that arrived at my door did not influence me in the least!  LOL.  Hey, that is how we do things in Louisiana, right Cher?




I compiled the names for all the days and days and days of the Build A Barn Blog Hop I conducted
  

For the book, I pulled up a random generator and plugged in my  numbers (in Louisiana politics you would have brought your heavy eqipment over and worked on my property) and I pulled:

NUMBER 5 - Alice Turcotte  (are you related to Ron Turcotte - Jockey of the famous Secretariat?)

But then I said, so many people aren't going to get anything.  So I went outside and found Frank (Mr. Quilts and Dogs) or (Mr. QuiltSwissy, which ever way you look at it), and asked him for a number and he came up with 17, the age at which he met and started dating me.  It changed his life, today he says for the better, but yesterday it was not as positive.

So that number belongs to Mary Ann!

Remember that last Cajun  Camp?  NOOOO, you don't get my camp!  But you will get a FQ of that fabulous Fir tree background to add to your barns!

So what do we  do now?

Stinkin' Cute Challenge Quilt

Oye!  Dios Mio!  Don't you just hate sitting through meetings where people just have no idea how meetings should be run.  And remember my rant about the money going to charity?  Fully 3/4 of the meeting was dedicated to either the Giving Quilt (a guild formed strictly to funnel quilts to charity) and people trying to convince our guild to give our money to Parker House (who used the money we gave them last year to take 8 kids to Disney World.)  Geez.

The meeting should have been focused on the Challenge and the members who made quilts to put in the challenge. 

I think the priority of the guild has changed.  And not for the better. 

But let me tell you about the GREAT QUILTS.


There were 25 quilts hanging in the challenge.  The Challenge was to use a single block in any way that created a secondary challenge.

I am telling you, my quilt is stinkin'  cute.  Just plain stinkin' cute.  I got 3rd place.  I would have voted for the one that won First Place (had mind not been so stinkin' cute!)




I am calling it At The Zoo!  Like Simon and Garfunkle's hit off the same name.







Here are the rest of the quilts  There are some beauties in there.  Each quilt has blue tape outlining the single block that creates the pattern.  See if you can see them all.

I Won A Ribbon!

I did win a ribbon tonight!  Yes!  Honorable mention, but still a winner.  There was about 20 quilts there in the challenge.  AND I beat Bonnie!  She didn't win anything!

I just found out that I won something in the Banned Book Challenge!

I just got a note from Tanesha of Crafty Garden  Mom Blog.  

And just the day before that, I found out that I won something from Angie at A Quilting Reader's Garden.

This must mean it will be a great week and I will get my BED!    YES!!!!!

That WOULD be a winning week!

It was just PattyA and I this year in the Quilt Your Quilt in June Challenge.  You all really need to get on the ball.

I finished 4 quilts and 2 table runners for a total of 14,832 square inches.

She finished 18,919 square inches!

Together we completed 33,751 square inches of quilts!  That is a whole lotta quilting!

I will gather a box of winner stuff and send it off to her!

Congratlations PattyA!  You are the Quilting Queen!

Thanksgiving and Winning

I am a WINNER!  A BIG Winner at that!

I won the Sea Urchin Pinsie Pin Cushio from Karen Griska at the Selvage Blog!  I was blown away by the email I received yesterday telling me I had won!  I never expected that.

THEN:::::::::::::::;

I entered a contest at Urban Elementz, the pantograph people at the Houston Quilt Show and won their prize of $50 worth of pantos!  Can't wait to choose those babies!

And then I won big with the Thanksgiving dinner.  I had a table of 7 people and two turkeys cooked to perfection.  There were

Sweet potatoes from the fields of LSU (probably experimental with glow in the dark things in them) and
Rolls from Texas Roadhouse so sweet you didn't need honey
and
Green bean and french fried onion casserole
and
fruit salad
and
Pies in the Mason Jars......they were a huge hit!  Seven people ate 12 mason jars!

And we had wonderful guests........Tiger and Ann and Press and the Daughter and Son in Law

And the bassets did not steal a single turkey leg (because they were relegated to the outside at all times, except for one escapee who snuck inside during the football game)

We had fun, food and laughter with good friends............

but I failed to take but one picture after I already started carving the huge perfect turkey!

New Look on the Old Blog and a BIG Win

I was just informed that I won a $50 gift certificate from Urban Elementz (those are the pantograph people I love so much!)  I entered their Crossword Puzzle contest in Houston at the Quilt Show.  It involved doing a search for about 50 design titles.  They gave you a picture of their design and you searched the catalog until you found the design.  I nearly gave up!

Ann laughed at me for about 2 hours while I poured over the catalog, looking at each picture over and over and over again until I found them all!

As for the picture on the blog, I have tried like 15 things and cannot get the stupid  interesting picture any smaller.  Aughhhhh!

So I apologize for the stupid   HUGE picture.  I will work on getting it smaller.  That size thing has always been an issue......and yes, big is not always better!

Added note:  My wonderful, smart, fabulous friend Joni figured out what to do.........Did I say she was smart and beautiful??


But it is cute, isn't it?  It is a pin cushion with pinsies I made myself.  And the creamer is from Occupied Japan which was produced after the war in, obviously, Occupied Japan.

Following the end of World War II in 1945 and until 1952, items imported from Japan to the United States had to be marked in a fashion indicating they came from Occupied Japan. Although four different marks were used on cups and saucers during this time ("Japan," "Made in Japan," "Occupied Japan," and "Made in Occupied Japan"), only the last two marks guarantee the pieces were made in the Occupied Japan timeframe. For serious Occupied Japan collectors, it is items with these two marks for which they search.

I found the creamer in some of the junk I have from my Evil Mother In Law's stuff that we are keeping like a shrine in storage.....but I didn't say that......
